"Absolutely unacceptable service for a restaurant that tries to present itself as upscale. We visited on a Sunday at 3PM — the place was virtually empty — and still couldn't get a table for a party of 5 in a reasonable amount of time. The hostess initially walked us to the bar area, despite the dining room being wide open. When we asked to be seated in the restaurant section, she couldn't seem to find 'a solution' for over 5 minutes — for an empty restaurant. No apology, no communication, no sense of urgency whatsoever. For a restaurant that wants to play in the white-tablecloth league, the hospitality falls embarrassingly short. Basic hosting skills — like seating a group of 5 in a near-empty dining room — should be table stakes. Instead, we were left standing, ignored, and ultimately made to feel unwelcome. Save yourself the frustration and find somewhere that actually wants your business."

It was not as good of quality meal for Valentine's Day dinner and we went at 4:30pm thinking we may have beat the dinner rush. There were not many desserts left and we really wanted the crème brûlée, it was one of the biggest reasons we went here. This will not deter us from making reservations and eating at The Farmhouse in the future but never again on a holiday. We were happy to be out together but we were disappointed with this date night meal.

Our server, Ana, was a delight. Our food was fantastic. This valentines day was the anniversary of my husband any my first date- 20 years ago! We are new to Christiansburg and asked a few people what their recommendations were for a special meal and it was unanimously "The Farmhouse." Now we know why! We felt the value of the food was just right. We ordered a prime rib, a Shirley temple, a plate of calamari and it was under $100. Which was just right for our special date. We will be back!!

Shrimp and grits were way too spicy, couldn't eat it and I like spicy food. Everything was far too salted. Sent the shrimp and grits back and received overdone salmon instead. My wife and I were seated at an empty table for eight, not exactly cozy or romantic. I really wanted to like this place but the food and seating are too much to ignore. This one is off my list, too bad.

We stopped in for lunch driving from Middleburg, Virginia to Charlotte, North Carolina. So happy we did! We had the onion rings, wedge salad, and prime rib, and enjoyed every bit! Waitress was so sweet and shared some history of the building.

Nice location and ambiance. Great place for a family or friends gathering. Staff was competent and friendly. Food quality does not match pricing.

I was expecting better food given the prices, but the atmosphere, and service were very good.

We drove down to Blacksburg from Mendham NJ to spend Thanksgiving with my two daughters and their boyfriends. We had the private room with the fireplace going. The whole evening was filled with great food and exceptional service which allowed our family to create a beautiful memory! Thank you Farm House!

Critical but hopefully constructive. I have yet to find a good quality dining experience in the Blacksburg area. I had hopes for The Farmhouse mostly based on its menu. First, don't get a booth - ask for a table. The booths are small and isolated. Waiters - don't answer “no problem” when people say thank you. Clear plates and bottles when they're empty. Especially before bringing the check. Food was mediocre at best. My son had ribeye that he said was chewy. I had crab cakes - that's just bad ordering on my part. We are too far away from Maryland to order crab cakes. The noise coming from the kitchen was distracting. People yelling and laughing. Too loud. It's likely that I just simply have to start lowering my expectations, which is fine. I'm not here too often. I'd like to find a good reliable dinner place though - something like “our Daily Bread” that serves great breakfast and lunch options.

Wonderful environment, food and service is top notch. Additional plus is they accommodate gluten allergy.

My family and I loved our first experience of The Farmhouse for brunch. Everything was perfect and the staff was so pleasant and professional. We will return!!!

Farmhouse is always a great place to have a get together and enjoy excellent food and service!

Service was really great and the waitstaff was attentive. Now to the less that stellar aspects: - The booths are extremely cramped - Unpleasant fish odor - The strip steak has little to no flavor other than charcoal and was extremely tough to chew. - The ribeye was cooked to perfection but extremely heavy on the salt. - The Old Fashion was extremely sweet. Not the waitstaff's fault regarding the quality of the food. I paid the bill, thanked the waiter and left. I would not consider The Farmhouse the next time I am in the area.
