We had a great dinner at the Farmhouse. Even though it was very busy the night we went, they seated us immediately. There were many tables to choose from - both inside and outside - because the place is just huge. In fact, it's so big you could easily get lost going to the restroom! The service was great - very friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely patient while we decided what to order. The ambiance is nice, with comfortable, private booths that almost look like barn stalls (ties into the farm theme I guess). The food was excellent, tasty, with large portions with everything prepared exactly as we requested. We were especially impressed with everything considering how busy they were. I'd highly recommend it!
I have eaten the prime rib the last 3 times my wife and I have visited. The first time it was tender and delicious, the 2nd time it was fatty and a bit chewy and this time there was little fat, cooked to perfection for me however a bit tougher than I like, more so than my previous visit. My wife and I will visit again in a couple of months however I don't believe I will try the prime rib again. The 3rd time was the charm.
2:00 on a Sunday, had a reservation, was no where need full, it's an odd layout - lots of little rooms and the "view" is not from the porch so a little misleading. Was excited to try the food but upon arrival was warned "the kitchen is super backed up" and the table next to us told us they had been there a full hour and no food yet. The patio was less than half full. Such a bummer as we were trying to have a special lunch with our college kiddo.
The whole dining experience was amazing from the moment we walked in the door, until we left. The hosts were super nice and helpful, and our servier Mia was the best. We had the crabcake app and it was perfectly prepared and presented. My filet was great, my wife had the salmon, and the couple with us had a steak and salad. We were all very pleased with the food. No desert on this trip, but I look forward to coming back and trying the cheesecake next trip!
Visiting Virginia Tech for parents weekend and made reservation here with no clue about restaurant. Hayley our server greeted us with a large smile. The appetizers were fantastic. The main courses were great. The Prime Rib was probably the best i have ever The deserts were great. Overall the meal was great. Highly recommended
Food was great and service was wonderful. We were in the banquet area which was ok. We like the actual restaurant sections better. This felt like we were at a banquet. But we do understand it was a busy weekend.
Great atmosphere and service but the food was mediocre- the fish was very over cooked and the brussel sprouts were soggy. Would be nice to have a drink outside but I wouldn't eat there again.
My husband and I been coming here since we were students at VT 30+ years ago. Haven't been here for years but took our freshman daughter and her roommate here for parents weekend this weekend and it's just as good as it was 30 years ago. While it has expanded a good bit, my husband said “the farmhouse on steroids” ?, it has a cool outside seating area now. Will definitely be back many times while she is here. Should have kept our Sunday brunch reservations too but oh well next time! ?❤️
I read a review that almost matched ours. We were in town visiting, and pulling up we thought we lucked out on a busy Friday night with a reservation. Mahi Mahi was way overcooked, brussel sprouts were mushy, whatever the roasted carrots were seasoned with had a very weird flavor, Jack and Coke was watered down, server was trying way too hard almost to the point of annoying, bacon wrapped scallops were ok, and ambience was unique and qwerky. Based on the overall 4.5 stars, it might have been a one off thing for us, but it was bad enough that we'd never go back.
Came for an Anniversary Brunch and as usual it did not disappoint. Food was very good and service excellent. The ambiance was what we really love about this place. Save it for special occasions since it's a hour drive for us.

We celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary at our favorite romantic go to restaurant. We love everything about the Farmhouse from dining inside in a private setting to outside drinks on the patio. Thanks for a great evening!!
We went for our anniversary dinner and was not disappointed! The service was amazing everyone was friendly. The food was fast and perfectly cooked. The atmosphere was just what we wanted, private and romantic. Will definitely be going again and again!
Moving our Radford student onto campus we dined with her room mates family. The food we as fantastic, service was impeccable, this party of 10 had reservations and was seated immediately upon arrival. We will be back and definitely recommend!
Eight of us celebrated an anniversary and an engagement. Our table was ready when we arrived, but we went into the side door nearest the handicapped parking spot that we needed and could not find anyone to tell us where our table was. There was a sign by the door saying that this was a secondary entrance but we didn't notice it until later. One of us went to the main entrance and found our server who seated us at a table near where we came in. The seating was snug. The table was narrow and the onion rings and cheese curds came on large plates. We went out to the porch and our server graciously took two photos for us. Our entrees were served on very large plates making the table more crowded with barely room for my first cup of coffee. When my second cup of coffee came the empty first cup was not removed. By the time the server brought our desserts we had begun to stack up the dinner plates, and asked that some of the empty plates be removed. On the positive side, everybody complimented the food. It was all well prepared and delicious. We appreciated the free desserts for the anniversary couple and the newly engaged couple and the server being willing to go outside with us for a photo, and that our table was in a quiet area which helped those who were hard of hearing and our 3 month old great grand child. The steak, scallops, mahimahi, chicken, shrimp and grits, and desserts were so,so good.
The decor and ambiance is unique and fun! We ordered the lamb lollys, calamari & fried cheese curds for appetizers which were amazing! Also, everything our party got for dinner was delicious including the pineapple martinis for our cocktails. The service was excellent! We had a great time!
