The espresso is well made, and that says a lot. True third wave coffee is hard to find and 18 grams does a very good job with all their coffee and their food. They do like to add a sweet element to many of their foods and that can be a little surprising when you think you’ve ordered a savory item but everything is delicious. The only problem I have with this coffee shop is the way I’ve heard them talk to customers who ask for something slightly different. They have a “we are better than Starbucks” attitude. It’s true, they are better, but it’s better to let the customer decide that. I’ve heard them say, “We are not Starbucks, our drinks are made to our specifications, we do not make alterations” which is actually fine, it’s just the superior way they do it that is really annoying. It would be better to say, “I’m sorry we can’t make alterations, our menu is specifically formulated to give you the very best experience.” I’m not a Starbucks fan, so I’m not offended for them. I just think this shop is sometimes rude to their customers who may not be familiar with truly excellent coffee. This is our favorite coffee shop in the area because the coffee is excellent.

We had an amazing visit to 18 grams! If you enjoy a clean environment, an elevated food experience & delicious coffee, this is your spot. A well composed, tasty and artistic avocado toast + a silky 6 oz espresso with oat milk (cappuccino) was exactly what we needed!

One of the coolest mixes of a high end bike fitting shop w a coffee shop I’ve ever experienced. The only one, but high quality. The vanilla bean latte was well worth the high price!

Joe is great. He believes in his coffee and business so much that he saw me walk by with a competitor's brand and called me in to try 18 Grams instead. Honestly I'm not a huge fan of coffee that you buy out and much prefer to make my own. It's either old tasting, bitter, or burnt tasting. However, that's not the same for 18 Grams. I like my coffee strong but not tasting like motor oil. 18 Grams Coffee Lab knows how to make a proper cup. You can taste the actual flavor of the coffee and personally I didn't need sugar or anything. If the idea of a proper cup isn't enough to bring you in, go make a visit for the charisma. Either way, you won't be disappointed.

My wife and I stop by here every time we’re anywhere near Culpeper. It’s incredibly refreshing to be served by someone who is focused on getting everything exactly right. Every cup of coffee, every sandwich, every pastry has been precise and perfect. The owner is incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about sharing and educating interested customers. We look forward to many visits in the future.
This is a place we have visited numerous times. Today we drove out of our way on the way to the mountains. Surprised by a change in coffee brands only to discover the experience was once again elevated. We leave caffeinated, very, because we had not one, but two cups of coffee and full of very tasty food. We always come away more learned of the coffee world when Joe is our barista. Thanks once again, Joe.
