Wonderful chef and friendly staff bring a most pleasant lunch to the highest level outside the Beltway.
OMG. Amazing ?. Can't believe this was our first time here! Both my wife and I literally loved everything we tried this evening at Copper Fish. Crab nachos were worth coming back for alone! Both our entrees were spectacular, she had the filet and I had the crab cakes. Portions were awesome and flavors out of this world. We both also sampled various drinks all of which we would order again. We'll definitely be back!
I’m not sure what happened because we had heard such good things. Service was okay and atmosphere was great. The food was not. The Fettuccine Alfredo was so bland it tasted like noodles and milk. I’m not one to write poor food reviews. The Maryland Crab pizza was so salty and overly seasoned heavily. The Pepperoni Pizza was good. My daughters said the crab cake didn’t have a enough sauce and was pretty bland with out it. We would of actually asked for more sauce on the side if we had seen our server again. Oh Our appetizer never came. So when our food came I asked about it. Instead of saying sure be right out with it she asked if I wanted it since our food was already here. We have been trying out a lot of restaurants locally since being new the area.
Very clean and beautiful setting- good wait staff- pays attention to detail I ordered the Fish and Chips Special today and it was served hot, the fish was fresh with a delicious light crunchy batter I shared with my Husband - very delicious ? we will be back
Outstanding as always. Great food and great service.
Another great dining place in Culpeper. Love this town. Great night life as well!!
Despite some bad reviews, we chose to try the Copper Fish in Culpeper. We enjoyed our visit on the whole. We went on a Wednesday. First, they gave a lovely outdoor seating area reminiscent of a European sidewalk, and it is covered so that weather is no concern. Second, service was mixed—we waited several minutes for our initial server but throughout our visit we had the attention of multiple servers, all friendly and accurate. In fact, the cook herself came to the table twice to make sure my order was satisfactory, since one item was out of stock and I needed to choose a substitute. I found that personal attention and concern very unusual and noteworthy. Third, taste was excellent. Everything tasted as expected. The crab nachos were really good, and our entrees did not disappoint. Fourth, happy hour from 4-7 pm! $5 drinks were a pleasant surprise. Finally, the check. This was a disappointment, but resolved in our favor. Perhaps it was the multiple servers—I’m not sure—but we were charged for more drinks than we ordered. When I brought it to the attention of the manager she made it right and I can’t complain. All in all, the negative reviews should be compared to this mostly positive review. It’s not bad! Expect something less than perfect and enjoy good tasting food and drinks. If you want perfection you are expecting too much.
Dinner shrimp appetizer was had way too much Bay Seasoning poured on shrimp.. Fish and chips was very oily lightly battered, will not return.
Party of six, quickly seated and served. Steady attention during meal, made me feel like an honored guest. All six meals were perfect: as ordered, yummy, generous portions. Clean table, dishes, linen napkin was top notch.Wonderful experience, will be back!
Place is ok to stop by. Server was not to happy to be there. First time stopping by so I wasn't that impressed. Maybe next time it's better

They were short staffed, but the service was good and fast. My only complaint is I believe the muffins had mold on them. I mentioned it to the waitress and she went and checked the others and said they were all like that and thought it was from the pan. Well the mold was between the paper cup it was in and the muffin itself so it wasn't the pan. Also they served chilled water with no ice. The food was pretty good except for the mold issue.
Food was excellent. The waitress disappeared and was extremely inattentive. Had to ask for my check, then waitress disappeared again and we finally took the check over to the thyme market to check out.
Enjoyed our 1st visit , our next trip we will make a reservation, they were busy , but found us a table. Food and service was very good.
Lousy Hostess, great serving staff. We visited on 6/26/2021 and the white haired female hostess definitely ruined the experience. Cold manner...needs to be in law enforcement, not in restaurants. This is a confusing dual-restaurant (Cooper fish/Thyme cafe) and we walked thru the Cafe to get to our table at the fish restaurant. She acted like we had committed a war crime. I guess it's hard to get good help with Biden paying everyone to stay on unemployment. The serving staff was very friendly and responsive. The food was not what we expected for the price we paid ($26+ for salmon entree)...poached salmon was ok, rice was too watery and lacked good seasoning.
We were looking forward to trying here again having been more than a year since our last visit. We started with Duck Pate which was excellent and Better Cheddar which was so salty that we couldn't eat it. The crab pizza tasted a little like crab but the very thin crust had no taste. One of our party had the fried oysters which were done well but tasteless. Another had the crab nachos which were green nachos with a huge amount of cream sauce and three dollops of crab meat. One had a meat pizza with three meats which he said was good. One had the lobster ravioli which she enjoyed, perhaps the best item of the evening. Three at our table also had the soup of the day, garlic and artichoke hearts which they al said was again so salty. One went uneaten, one drank the broth and the other eat about half. We ordered several deserts to share and they too were very disappointing - I'm sure they were store bought. So the meal wasn't much, the wine was way overpriced (Josh for $30) but the service was worse. I had to go find someone to help us three times. The girl serving us disappeared and I found the young man tending bar. He helped us with clearing and ordering desserts. I even had to go find him with our $300 bill so we could pay and get out of there. I asked him if he was alone and he kind of laughed and said "yeah, right now." I hope to not return for at least another year. Perhaps by then something will change!
