I would have rather been lynched at the Cumberland Restaurant. Where do I start? We were seated at our dusty table where we struggled to keep our balance on the broken benches. We listened to the static of Mexican Rap from a Playlist of a line cook that sounded to be in his pocket while he was moving further and further away from the Bluetooth. We killed flies as we waited for our over-priced mushy vegetables and withered salads and side of watered down queso. After quickly leaving, we decided that having wet pizza at Vito's wasnt a bad idea, at least their flies stay in the window.

My Bride and I stopped in for lunch on the way home from deer camp. We each got a lunch special. Both were delicious! For a cup of coffee, a House Special, and a Combo #1, our total was $23.17 after tax but before tip. Now that I know about this place, I definitely plan to return.

There is plenty of parking. It often smells like urine when you come in. It appears clean so I'm not sure where this smell comes from. They offer the typical chips and salsa when your seated. The cup is not even half full of salsa and if you ask for more, it seems to be an issue. The menu is decent with various options. There are some non Mexican items for kids or those not a fan of Mexican. There are two sides to the restaurant. The outside wall is typically staffed by the female server who appears to be on her A game. The inside wall near the restrooms is usually staffed by the man who seems to just be existing. He doesn't really talk and when you ask for something he typically shrugs his shoulders and walks away. For example, we ordered fajitas and didn't get the tortilla shells when the order arrived. When we asked about this, he brough the menu over and pointed where it said that it came with tortillas, and said yeah before walking away. We never got the tortillas. We ordered guacamole ($5), and got a small container with a few teaspoons of guacamole.

We love this little oasis on Route 60 in Cumberland County. If you know the road, then you know Cumberland is the place where you'd better slow down hard and fast to avoid the ever-present speed traps. Along the way, you'll find El Jinete in a nondescript building. Go inside, and you'll find a very attentive wait staff and tasty Mexican food in a relaxed atmosphere. We stop here about every two weeks on our way to our place in the foothills, so we've tried just about everything on the menu. Everything is excellent, but don't skip the chili relleno. It's fresh and tasty. Go there. Enjoy. You're welcome.

We’re camping at Bear Creek lake before going back in Canada tomorrow. We’ve decided to eat here. The food is excellent and the service was quick. It will stay on our to go to for a restaurant next time we stop here. Good size plates, great margaritas, you have tortillas with salsa and a white sauce (that is awesome) before your meal and you can have a second serving. I recomend this restauraut at 150%. The server was quick and always making sure that we’re ok. Wow it was so good !!!

upon arrival the first thing I noticed is the place smelled like a gas station men's room. the food was ok but seemed overly greasy . the service was non existent for my party of one while service a few tables over looked to be top notch for the group of latino construction workers. the place in farmville is much better.
