Diane, Rachal, and the team at Dayton Catering Co. were exceptional to work with. They put an incredible amount of care and attention to detail into making our wedding weekend beautiful. From our tastings to event setup, and everything in between, Rachal and her team provided top-notch service. Rachal took the time to understand our vision and made excellent recommendations where necessary. The Dayton Catering team executed our wedding weekend flawlessly. Our friends and family still reminisce about the weekend and how fantastic the service, food, and bar staff were during the weekend. I highly recommend Dayton Catering to anyone looking for wedding, event, or dinner party catering.

We had Dayton Catering Co. at our wedding on 10/28/23 but we would’ve been better off picking someone else for a little more money. I would’ve written this review prior to now except it would’ve been an angry review. Let me explain:We are foodies and picked Dayton because we were both blown away by their customer service and food. There were zero issues when it came to the tasting, prices, or communication. It was extremely easy to email them and get a response as well as an updated price for the any changes I had. All the positive events leading up to the wedding day resulted in me not being worried about Dayton at all but that was my mistake. My issue was our wedding day, the one day that mattered. When we were ready to eat, the bride and groom were to go first through the buffet line. We ended standing awkwardly because the food wasn’t ready on time. Not sure if it was a communication issue but it was so cringy. We were told by Dayton staff to sit and they would bring us food which was fine except we didn’t get all the items. We didn’t get bread, the green beans, or the chicken we paid for. The salad was horrendous as there wasn’t enough dressing and it literally was just lettuce and a couple carrots (I received no tomatoes, or any other type of vegetation besides lettuce and a few carrots). Our guests did get everything (we asked after the wedding) so we could look past it.The biggest complaint we have is not getting the ‘take home plate’. It was advertised to us and we were beyond excited. It was supposed to be a plate we could have after we left on our getaway late wedding night. We never got one and ended up trying to order ANYTHING near Massanutten which was nothing at 1am. Whether this was a communication error or it didn’t happen; either way, we didn’t get that plate and that was one of the reasons we picked Dayton.Again, we had a very enjoyable experience with Dayton leading up to the wedding. The wedding day just left a lot to be desired and a very upset bride who organized this whole thing. Food and the venue were our largest budget items; we placed emphasis on the food because of being foodies so it meant a lot to us to be correct and good. Unfortunately, we didn’t experience either on our wedding day and when looking back on our day, we only have negatives with the food services.

Court Manor Weddings and Events

I'm a Venue Manager at Court Manor Wedding and Events in New Marker and Dayton Catering has worked weddings for clients at our venue multiple times now. I'm always met with kind, efficient professionals who know the catering business inside and out. Their food is delicious and beautiful and their service is top notch! I'll keep recommending them to anyone who asks as I consider them to be one of the top caterers in the Rockingham county and surrounding areas!

This is a quaint little restaurant in a quaint little town. We were later evening walk in's and unfortunately the only open table had an air conditioning vent blasting right on it. Surprising the staff would set tables up this way but since I did not have a reservation I chose not to complain. It goes wrong however with the food and waiter. I had the linguine with Shrimp, Cajun style - it came with an oddly large portion of shrimp over a very small portion of pasta. It really was "Shrimp with Linguini: rather than "Linguini with Shrimp". Yes, there was that small amount of pasta on the plate and I am sure some people might enjoy this error but I like getting what I ordered .. also ... pasta is cheap.. is there really a reason to hold back on it? The sauce was average. The bigger issue was the Filet Mignon my son ordered. He was served a sirloin. It was brutally obvious what the cut was and yes I tasted it myself. There is no tenderloin with this large of a circumference and the meat was lean and tougher exactly like you would expect in a sirloin vs the tenderloin. I have eaten in countless steaks and had no doubt of this error. I never complain but called this obvious mistake out to the waiter who then insisted I was wrong which was just insulting. It was clear he (or the chef?) did not want to deal with the mistake and felt they could just stand their ground on it. In short .. Harrisonburg is 10 min. further up the road and has many better food options. If you can afford the time go find places that serve you what you order.

Excellent food. I have been here several times and always get the crab soup, it is rich and delicious! I have had several of their quiches all have been excellent. My dining companion today went on and on about her hamburger and she claims they have THE best sweet potato fries. Wait staff is always friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!!!

We wated a place with some gluten free options and found the Dayton Tavern. They did not have a gluten free bun, but the Pittsburgh steak salad was great. M y husband had a special burger and he liked the sauce so much he used it for his fries The food was fast and hot and we were very please with our server and the atmosphere.

We visited for Sunday brunch and were underwhelmed. They ran out of scrapple (one of the reasons we went in the first place) and the food took a LONG time to get to the table. We assumed it was because everything was cooked to order. Perhaps it was, but one entree was sizzling hot and the other not even warm. My husband's Angus Cheesesteak was billed as a lightly marinated Philly and it didn't resemble one at all. I watched him eat since my sausage and eggs were cold and sent them back. Note to tavern: it's better to bring the food out as it's ready rather than let an entree get cold just so both can be presented at once. Service was frustrating. The waitress left us for long stretches without checking on us to see if our food was OK or if we needed anything. One and done.

Excellent service on a busy homecoming weekend. Food was great too, very fresh-tasting and plentiful and well-seasoned. Small spot so call ahead for reservations. Great ambiance.

We used Dayton Catering for our wedding in May of 2022. They were so easy to work with and were great with answering our questions. The tasting was very personal and the coordinator, Rachal, was so kind throughout the whole process. The food was incredible and all of our guests raved about how delicious it was!

It was Mother’s Day, looking for some lunch, no big celebration, but still looking for a good meal. Checked Trip Advisor for a near by Restaurant. Worked out great. We didn’t have a reservation, but there was seating at the bar. Great and friendly service, food was great also. We split 2 different sandwiches and sides. They gladly split the order, no additional charge, fish sandwich and Philly Cheesesteak, enjoyed it. They had Mother’s Day specials that looked great and reasonably drink specials. Definitely will visit again.

On Sunday we were in the Bridgewater/Harrisonburg area when our plans changed at the last minute. We now needed to have lunch asap so we searched online for a nearby open restaurant. The comments about the Dayton Tavern looked good so we called to see if they could seat us. From the phone call to the end of our lunch we could not have felt more welcome. This is a tiny restaurant but the friendly folks inside along with good food make it a great experience. I’ll be back on my next visit to the area but with a reservation this time.

While traveling through the area, we were fortunate to come upon the Dayton Tavern last Friday. The restaurant is small, and we did not have reservations on a bustling Friday evening. However, we were greeted with a lovely waitress, followed up by the owner, who calculated the seated paired with the reservations list. She discreted moved some folks around to accommodate us! We were clear that we didn't want to displace anyone. In her very calm and friendly manner, she assured us it was fine and made space for us at the bar! We were surprised that she would go to that trouble for us, as she clearly has a following of " locals" to accommodate. Our meals were delicious and cooked to perfection. Our waitress stopped by several times to check on us, as did the owner. Maybe it's southern hospitality at its best, but most likely we met some genuinely wonderful people The place is charming, rustic, friendly, and the food is outstanding!
