We visited Arterra Winery for the first time last weekend based on a recommendation from our VRBO host and are so glad we did. The building is beautiful, the people were lovely, and the wines were excellent. My husband and I both did a tasting where we could pick any 5 wines on the menu (not limited to just reds or just whites), and we really enjoyed each one. We had a great time visiting. Really high-quality and slightly unconventional wines. Very friendly people and a beautiful property. Folks who are really into the mainstream of Virginia wines should do themselves a favor and take a very rewarding step off the beaten path with Arterra.
Stopped here for a glass after visiting a park nearby. We wanted quiet and quaint which is exactly what we got. Beautiful scenery, friendly staff and good wine. My favorite aspect was that the winery provided table service (many wineries you must order at the counter). I acknowledge I am fully capable of walking to get my own wine, however it was relaxing to have it brought to us. The outside area can get buggy, but they offer citronella lamps which I think helped.
