Food was wonderful the service was fabulous and the atmosphere was delightful.Part of that was the out-of-doors partially surrounded by Fields with cows in the distance was lovely. They weren't too close to be a problem, but it was great scenery!I loved the pictures they had on the walls, providing interesting bits of history. Our waitress was so cute and sweet, checking in to make sure we had what we needed. When we first arrived I was feeling sorry that we hadn't gone to the Mexican restaurant on the hill but ended up being glad we hadn't after all.
Lunch menu is a hit but I wish the “half” sandwiches got a half portion of protein. If the product was prepared properly a good cut would evenly divide the meat. Overall net expectations. Very attentive and friendly server. Would go back.
BBQ ribs tough with sauce only on 1 side, bake potatoes were not done.Husband's steak ,and my toss salad were good.Mac and cheese, fries, mash potatoes were barely warm. Will not be going back.
Stopped on our way passing through Virginia. Restaurant was clean, food was fresh & delicious. Our waitress Brittney was extremely pleasant and made sure we had everything we needed. Definitely worth the stop.
I ordered the Calabash Chicken, 5 piece. It was delicious! The honey mustard type sauce they served with it wasn't my choice but it was very good too. A little spicy for my taste, but it added a nice zing to the chicken. Service was great, the waitress was very nice and checked on how everything was often, but not too often. I was very satisfied with this visit, (my first to Fatz) I will gladly eat there again!
Prior to ordering they were out of a lot so settled for what we did not come in for. Husband waiting on baked potato finally came out was hard. I shared some of my food which pot roast veggies was crunchy. FYI ask before ordering they may be out. Carpet needs cleaning and a good wash smells like old food inside. Friendly staff doing the best they can. I am sure they are short-handed.
Was in town for business and stopped here for dinner. (There used to be a Fatz were I'm from and loved going, so was expecting similar quality and service). It was not crowded, but had to wait forever for everything. I'm really hoping the waiter was new and that was the reason for everything. I asked for a cup of hot tea or at least hot water, and a glass of water. The waiter brings out the hot water in a drinking glass instead of a cup (like for coffee or other hot drinks). I order the Kentucky Bourbon chicken and a salad. But I didn't mean no fries, i meant salad, then chicken with fries. The waiter didn't ask if I wanted to only want the salad or state only one side (I wouldn't have minded paying for the extra side). The waiter made same error with another table. He brings out the wings but no extra napkins or wet wipes until I asked (which took a very long time to get either, both should have been brought out with the wings). Both of my glasses are no empty and I had to flag down the waiter for more water. He didn't remove the prior glasses. Dirty dishes should be removed as quickly as possible. I had to ask for the rolls and butter AND I wanted some rolls and butter to go, he brings out the rolls wrapped up but no butter (sent him back for butter) . Instead of putting everything in 1 To Go container or bag it is 2 separate pieces.Waiting for everything took a very long time and it seemed like the waiter wasn't taught well.I would still go back. I just think staff need to be taught some more.
I stopped while traveling thru on a Sunday evg. It wasn't crowded, tho my very nice waitress, Mary sd she'd been quite busy as they were short some staff that had gone away for the Memorial Holiday. It was comfortable and quiet.I was afraid she'd think I was being too picky when I mentioned a cpl issues with food. But she didn't feel that way and was very accommodating and so nice. The only problem with service was while I was wtg on my meal, (I'd drank a little of my ice tea and ate 2 rolls, then I had to go to the RR to take care on my dentures), well I came out to see a guy was cleaning off my table. He apologized, sd he thought I'd left. But I was only gone a few minutes. So I had to go ask for another glass of tea, utensils and napkins. It wasn't a big deal, but hopefully he'll learn to leave things be a little longer. Over all, I would go back when I'm in the area again. Food was good, except the Broccoli casserole didn't look or taste very appetizing.
Wheelchair accessibility: Looks to be easy to get in and out.
Dietary restrictions: Sadly, I'm elderly and wear dentures that don't fit the best. I'd heard family rave about the good rolls, so I was looking forward to them. But I was disappointed to see they had a lot of Poppy Seeds in them. Problem #1: The seeds get under my dentures, and chewing gets my gums sore and the dentures loosen more. Problem #2, they were so good I couldn't resist eating a few. Then went to the RR to rinse them off and reapply adhesive. And the wonderful chicken was delicious but also its fried very crispy, and alot of pieces were too crunchy and caused the same problem with my dentures. And the Broccoli casserole didn't have a enjoyable taste to me and a few really hard pieces. But on a good note, when I mentioned these to my waitress Mary, she was quick to try to accommodate me. I asked if they had any different bread without seeds? She didn't think so but will check. I took notice of some of the Hamburger and sandwiches on menu and then asked if she could just bring 1 of those. So she brought me a toasted Baroche hamburger bun.Mary sd she could replace the Broccoli casserole so I chose to just get another serving of mashed potatoes. She also brought me another little serving of gravy to put over the my crispy chicken, which was just enough and both were very favorable. The chicken was juicy but also may be a little too salty for some ppl. I do like my food a little salty, so it was good for me.
Overall a good place to eat and enjoy the evening. The service was top notch and the atmosphere was laid back, not over crowded. I had no complaints from my family about the food so can't complain a bit here.
Excellent food and great atmosphere, but the real praise here is to the staff. Our table was handled by Mary and she was fantastic. She was professional, cheery and exceeded every expectation we had. She handled everything from our orders to refills in one of the best and most efficient ways, always with a smile. She even was able to provide a few tips about the area to those of us from out of town that helped increase the quality of our trip. The rest of the staff was also polite and the general manager made sure everyone was 100% satisfied.

This restaurant has felt the crunch of increasing food prices and labor shortages, I placed a carry out order the staff was helpful and friendly. Unfortunately the portions have drastically been reduced, the over all quality of the food has decreased, and the price for the same carry out meal that would occasionally pick up for my family has doubled. This place used to be one of the better casual dining options in the limited selection in my area. I hope this restaurant can provide the value and quality that always met the expectations of my family in the pre-pandemic world.
Our appetizer was very good it was avocado egg rolls the rest of our food was sickeningly sweet for some reason the breading on the pork and the chicken was sweet as well as the gravy. The strangest of all was the mashed potatoes were somehow sweet, I’ve ate here before and it was great but this time was most certainly not.
We live close by, so we loved Fatz when it first came to the area. But in recent years the service and the food were LESS than decent. We decided to give it one more shot, because we love the fried green tomatoes...and we are so glad we did!! The service was phenomenal!!! Our server, Lea, was one of the best servers we have ever had. The steaks were seasoned and cooked to perfection. Before, they would come out literally charred and tasted burnt...even when they were medium rare- medium. The salads were fresh, and the rolls were freshly baked. The new manager should be very proud. We had written off Fatz and wouldn't recommend to anyone. Now, we can't wait to go back.
It's not gourmet food but it was good and the selection was pretty good. For me it was way too much fried dishes but I was able to find a dish that wasn't fried.
Waitress was ok, just ok, nothing special. Food was small, portioned tasteless ,old corn dry, and hard, and they were out of most thi gs on the menu . Wouldn't recommend this place.
