We went for the Sunday Buffet and they did not have a good selection. What they did have was not appetizing, just from looking at it. The fried chicken was burnt, Mac and cheese looked like it came out of a can. They offered fried fish, but there were only 3 pieces and they didn’t say they were cooking more. The bake chicken was swimming in liquid. We drove over an hour and half to get and not be able to eat. Totally disappointed.

I have to say that the customer service here was above amazing. But the food was lacking season. I had the buffet which was not very appealing to the eye. Nothing was labeled so I had to pick up every lid to figure out what was what. The greens didn’t have any meat nor seasonings. The cabbage was bland. The green beans tasted like they just came out the can and simmer in a pot all day. The fried chicken was dry and no seasoning. Baked chicken was moist but again no seasoning. My son had the Mac and cheese and it was just mush and lacking taste. Fish was cooked on the spot was hot and fresh but no seasoning. THE YAMS tho and THE SWEET TEA was the BEST THING!!! I even took a to-go of the yams. If they just get some seasoning in their food it will flourish. I love the idea of having karaoke nights!!! I spent over $60 dollars there and was very disappointed not at all what I was expecting.

Amazing home cooked food, great atmosphere and gospel music on Sunday. It’s the kind of place you always hope to find on a road trip but rarely do. Highly recommend!

I recommend the good food, the pleasant atmosphere, good music, the Sunday gospel music, getting together with friends, you can celebrate your birthday there, have a business meeting there, have a beer or drink from the menu, and the care that Gloria shows everyone that comes into her restaurant is top notch.

I had the pleasure of dining in at Viola, James restaurant and lounge. While traveling the I-95 corridor, I reached exit 8 right off the exit that was just restaurant called Viola James. I decided to stop there. I was blown away with the food and services provided. I learned soon after that the restaurant was fairly new. I had the steak, macaroni and cheese and a salad. When I tell you, I will surely be back. It’d be an understatement if you’re in the Emporia skippers Greensville, Virginia area. I highly recommend this place. It’s minority owned as well. This hidden treat will have you making multiple stops if you’re in the area. The atmosphere was amazing as well

I'm so glad I happened upon this lovely restaurant today. Customer service is very important to me & theirs is amazing. Our waitress was a sweetheart and the owner was invested in our experience. We went in shortly after opening. The food was served nice and hot. I ordered fried fish, cabbage & yams. The fish was seasoned & fried to perfection. The yams were good, a little more heavily seasoned than I prefer but still good. I was not a fan of the cabbage. It had a very strong smoky flavor and was a little dry. When the owner came by the table and asked how the food was, I expressed my concerns about the cabbage. She offered me an alternate side & I chose mac & cheese. The mac tasted like it came from a a Big Mama's kitchen...10/10! My sister ordered an extra side of mac to go home. I was surprised when the owner returned with another side of cabbage, more juicy & less smoky that the first. It was much better. My sister ordered fried chicken wings, mac & yams. The chicken was seasoned & fried well. I ate most of my sister's chicken skin because she doesn't eat it. She wasn't a fan of the chicken legs because they were so huge. We both plan to return & try more items. They also have a small banquet style room to accommodate parties. I wish this new business the very best.
