!!! scam likely !!! My wife and I decided to stay at Hotel Wayanoke for New Years and have dinner at the hotel restaurant Taproot Tavern. They had a New Years special going on. We prepaid online $60 a person. The hotel was great it was beautiful and all the staff in the hotel were personable and friendly. Our experience in the restaurant not so much. Our reservations were at 6pm. My wife and I both are corrections officers that work different shifts and different locations so this was our best option for spending New Years together. My wife got held up at work and would not be able to make the 6pm reservation so I went down and spoke to the manager at Taproot and she assured me it would be ok for us to come around 7:30pm. She had my pick out our entrees and desserts I chose the lamb chop for my wife and the hoping johns for my self I was super excited that they were able to accommodate us. We arrived around 7:35ish and were ready to eat delicious food. Our salads were great and the bread was amazing but our entrees not so much. Here is the description directly from their website: Traditional Hoppin' John with Marinated Chicken Symbolizing Good Fortune avorful, healthier version of Hoppin' John (made with Black-Eyed Peas smoked ½ chicken. and aromatic vegetables) paired with lean, Served with Whole-Grain Cornbread Muffin The entree I received was what appeared to be quarter hotdogs over a bed of black bean and rice. There was not once single piece of vegetable or smoked 1/2 chicken on my plate nor was there a cornbread muffin. My wife’s lamb chop had great flavor and both entrees were lukewarm. The beans were the only HOT thing we received outside of the bread. I let the server know this was not what I ordered and the manager came to our table to assure me this was the Hoppin Johns I asked about the chicken and she simply said we don’t have the chicken and walked away. We both know very well you don’t EVER send your meal back. We were very polite and I attempted to eat what I was given. The manager was unapologetic and didn’t mention anything about the rest of what was missing from the description of THEIR menu item. The server brought us the check and we were shocked to see that they had charged us another $45.83 on top of the $120 we paid online. We were charged $5.00 for the 2 sweet teas we ordered, $25 for a 20% service charge, and $15.83 for tax. None of which was mentioned on their website for this New Years special. We paid our bill and did not give anyone a hard time but I will never forget how Taproot made me feel. I left this restaurant feeling scammed and hungry on New Years.

I believe there was one server and one bartender for the entire restaurant. We did feel bad for the waitress, as she seemed inexperienced and a little overwhelmed.
The food was not good. Lamb “medallions” were small slivers of overcooked meat that resembled more like jerky. Ribeye steak was tough and not able to be cut with dull steak knives.
Pretty disappointing altogether. Especially since we have had good meals at taproot tavern in the past.

If you're looking for a fine dining experience in Farmville, this is the place to go! Quality, gourmet-style food; upscale atmosphere and service; but also fine-dining prices. I wish the portions were larger was for the price they charge.
The salmon I ordered was some of the best I've had, with perfectly crispy skin. My husband didn't find his pasta super filling or large for an entree, but it was very fresh and tasty. They served a mini loaf of house-made bread for an appetizer.
The service was great. We were basically the only people there, so it was a very quiet atmosphere, with comfy chairs and jazz music in the background. Perfect for an anniversary date.

Came here this weekend the staff and the atmosphere is perfect 👌 but, the food is not good. The charcuterie board was a plate...didn't have much on it for 21 dollars I was disappointed. The cocktail I tried had so much vodka in it that's all you could taste. However the house bread was delicious that was the only thing that was good. My friend ordered the ribeye steak and said it tasted freezer burned and it was over cooked. I had the garden pasta wich had no flavor. There was no salt or pepper to help the food out any. 10/10 Do not recommend.

Taproot is the only fine dining restaurant in FarmVille and every dish is amazing. I had the ribeye, chocolate mousse, Japanese eggplant, and the peaches.
The ribeye is tender and so juicy. The portions are perfect. The atmosphere is beautiful, and the service is phenomenal.

We were excited to stay at the Weyanoke hotel in Fsrmville, however we were immediately let down upon arrival. The host/receptionist that checked us in was dismissive and rude, she acted as if we were a nuisance just for being there. Dinner was good and the waitress and bartender were pleasant. When we went back to the room our daughter’s room was very cold. We tried to adjust the temperature but the remote wasn’t working. My husband went to check the thermostat sensor on the wall, barely touched it and it fell into the wall. He called to see how we could fix it and she said because that had happened we would need to switch rooms, then she suggested our kids would have to just share a room with us even though we paid for 2 separate rooms. Then she said she wasn’t sure if the maintenance guy was on schedule tonight, which was understandable b/c it was the night after Thanksgiving. She also told us that it may take over an hour for the maintenance guy to get there. She reluctantly called the maintenance guy and he arrived within 10 minutes. The maintenance guy, Josh, was AMAZING. Rather then making us feel like WE were the problem he just helped to resolve the problem He immediately identified what was wrong and quickly fixed it. The front desk woman is in the WRONG position and should not be working with customers. We vote for JOSH to be in charge of customer service. He was very kind, empathetic, understanding and willing to help us fix the problem. We would have voted atmosphere as a 5 based on aesthetics but considering service has so much to do with the whole experience we put it as a 3 star as well.

Unfortunately our date night was not as expected due to a sad dinner experience- my husband and I were throughly disappointed in the meal we were served. I ordered the torched Brie and stone fruit salad to start- the menu description was not what I was served- no arugula no wild berries- it was an over dressed spinach salad with raisins and dried apricots- I then ordered the bistro steak medium rare and it was not only over cooked the meat tasted rancid- they took it off the bill before I could complete my explanation- the green beans did not have shallot but chunky white onion pieces- I expect the menu description to match the meal- it also said it came with a Chesapeake potato croquet but I got what I would consider an over fried crab ball- (there was nothing that said shell fish on this plate) good thing I don’t have a shellfish allergy. My husband got the salmon- he ate his fish - it was cold- the whipped potatoes were water and his green beans were also full of chunky white onion and cold-. We were very disappointed with the entire experience. We were really looking forward to a fine dining experience and got a sub par poorly prepared meal. The service was fine- but the turnover in the kitchen is very obvious based on the quality of food. We will not be back-

If you’re a musician or band and looking to gig in Farmville, stay away from taproot tavern and hotel, we played a show and they changed details on pay after we setup and we still haven’t been paid after sending us through hoops. It’s been almost a month. Do better taproot tavern. Taproot Tavern, owned by Taylor Hospitality CEO Sean Taylor. Sean is also the guy that held us up and changed details. Very non professional!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best food in town! Had dinner there twice and everyone ordered different food - and all of it was delicious. The drinks were fantastic and the service was more than accommodating to our large groups. Will definitely be back.

Two of us went to Taproot the Friday before Christmas. We shared the brussel sprouts which were delicious. We each got a sandwich which was rather pricey for what we received. Not impressed with the meal. Unfortunately the place is not what it was before August 2023. Probably won't be back.
