Staff were really friendly! We just nipped in for a takeaway coffee and ended up getting a panini and bagel too to takeaway. The food was delicious and two strangers asked me where I got my food when I was eating it nearby haha. Will be back!
Very nice friendly staff, great environment and excellent food, I really like this amazing place, I'm going to come back to this place again.
Stopped in for a late lunch with eldest child. Pleasant girl behind the counter acknowledged us when we went in and left us to pick our table. Good choice n the menu from baked potatoes to all day breakfast. I opted for the scrambled egg and smoked salmon on toast while daughter had a 'small' breakfast with a side of black pudding. My coke came in an iced glass - great not to have a drink watered down by melting ice. Daughter's smoothie was delicious. The breakfast was generous and more than she could eat. My scrambled egg was very pleasant - only complaint was the under-toasted white bread. I'd much rather have had a nice bit of seeded brown. Never-the-less, it all tasted good. The staff were very pleasant, and I loved leafing through the cookbooks on the shelf - a nice touch. Would definitely come again when I am in this part of Edinburgh.
Staff were polite and trying but food was shocking. Cheap poor quality ingredients. We had breakfast and bacon was tough, potato scone was dry as leather, sausage wasn't traditional square but undercooked low quality, eggs were sloppy and undercooked. Toast was cheap and pale. Bottled sparkling water came and had obviously been re-used and filled with tap water. We went because of the good reviews, can't understand them at all.
Very underwhelming considering the high trip advisor rating. Bacon was tough, cheap bread and cheap sausage. Apart from the drinks and the eggs it was very poor.
We had visited the castle area and wanted to have coffee & lunch out of the main tourist area. We skipped down the steep steps right by the castle to the Grassmarket and followed the road round to The Coffee Mill Cafe which was a real find. Great service and delicious food. The owner was friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend the haggis and roasted vegetable wrap with onions and bbq sauce. The red velvet cake was also awesome and the coffee is fantastic too. It is also a really interesting area full of unique and individual shops that don't belong to any chain. My daughters loved Armstrong's vintage clothes shop and another vintage store by the Cat Cafe.
This place is DEAD! I have never been to such a boring coffee shop in my life. Ok, I didn't like the atmosphere. There simply isn't the offering that I would like or expect from a coffee shop. This place does not compare remotely to Starbucks or Uptown Coffee. If I had to choose it would definitely be Uptown because of the atmosphere and the drink and food offerings. They also play really good music.
Great service and excellent coffee ☕️
Great variety of Coffee's to choose from and Men's Bible study on Thursday mornings at 7 am all are welcome !
My wife and I dived in here after a long morning traveling to Edinburgh. The service was fantastic and friendly. We had breakfast, which was our second of the day after having eaten in the airport. The food and coffee were to a good standard and the environment was safe and comfy. Highly recommended.

As soon as you enter both waitresses pounce on you to tell you they shut in 40 minutes. So off putting. They also did it with the next few people through the door. To the point one family said ‘well can we order it not’. If you don’t want to serve people shut at 3 and let people eat in peace and no one will then come in. So very off putting
My husband ordered the simple breakfast but asked for the bacon to be swapped for one extra egg. The breakfast was pretty disappointing straight away as there was only one sausage, sliced in half to take up more space on the plate. Our tea pots were only filled half way with water despite being small, and my veggie sausage was soggy. Then to make it all end even worse, they tried to charge 80p extra for the "additional" egg. When I pointed out it was instead of the bacon, they tried some nonsensical rationale about bacon being expensive... True... But we didn't have any...we swapped it for an egg, which is cheaper! Not sure if this is management policy or poor staff training, but in any case we won't be going back even though we live around the corner. Only positive was the fried eggs were nicely cooked.
Nice little cafe justice the Grassmarket Bacon and egg roll as well as a black pudding for my wife. Very tasty and good value for money
We stopped off here as it was just around the corner from our Airbnb and it was a great find. Excellent breakfasts were served at great value
Great service, friendly staff, good breakfast and amazing smoothies. If I am ever back in Edinburgh I will happily come back here to eat again.
