Cute coffee shop located at the former Happy Creek Coffee and Tea. Some gluten free options available, sandwiches, smoothies, coffee, etc.

Vanilla latte was great!

Would give 5 stars except they had no baked goods in their cabinet other than a single brownie and it was still only 9 am in the morning.

I enjoyed the cappuccino I got here. A unique coffee shop with a unique name. It has a western feel to it, tucked away in little Front Royal.

It’s good when it’s good, but the baristas while nice enough, seemed pretty apathetic to providing good service, and the coffee was a bit burnt. I waited over ten minutes for a single basic coffee drink when there were maybe two other customers in the building.

Meanwhile I watched two sandwiches getting cold during that whole ten minutes I was waiting by the bar because clearly the customer waiting for their food in the dining area didn’t hear the barista calling out their order was ready. Can’t you walk ten feet over to let them know?

GF options should not even be advertised, they are horrible. Staff doesn't seem to know much about what they carry. We're out of several menu items. Can't recommend.

I liked this place when it was under a different name, and saw that it still had some gluten-free offerings. I placed an order online scheduled for a specific time, and when I showed up, it wasn’t ready. I ended up waiting for 15 min - no apology given for the delay. The one person behind the register seemed to be the entire kitchen, but then another older lady wandered back there before stepping away again…maybe she was on lunch break and figured customers could wait? There were two people in line at the time…When I went to open the box, I saw that I’d paid about $20 including tax for a pizza little larger than my hand. On the upside, I won’t feel fat after eating the entire thing…one star for offering some GF items in an area with few restaurants that do. Note: the baked goods (muffins, one type of cookie) that I saw on the counter aren’t available to purchase online for pickup. I won’t be back.

I like it when I find some place by accident. Suuuuper cozy and quaint inside with real good coffee. (Sorry L Dee’s) Been coming down to Front Royal for 4 years and never knew this joint existed. They even have Franziskaner Hefeweizen.

This is the best coffee shop in front royal. They have a well executed espresso-based menu to include the basics and some more complex items such as a Mexican Mocha and Turmeric Latte. The rooster sandwich is one of the best breakfast sandwiches I ever had. The atmosphere is relaxed like an old tavern with comfortable leather couches and quiet. It was really relaxing.

Kid-friendliness: This is a very casual place with a wooden children’s play kitchen and other toys for the little ones.

Great food and atmosphere! Always a fun place to hang out and work while enjoying a good cup of coffee. Recently though, I’ve noticed that the staff, who are normally super cheerful and helpful, have been super over worked to the point that service has deteriorated to the point that I have started looking other places for my coffee. I would love to make Back 40 my go to coffee shop again, but cannot in good conscience keep going to a store that overworks its employees so much. Hoping this can be fixed soon!

We waited today for 45 minutes for three coffee drinks. I watched people leave and buy KFC and other food/drinks to bring them back to eat downstairs. We were told it would “be a minute” when we ordered but LOL that was such a lie. The person making drinks had no idea how to make a pour over so my husband’s drink was pure hot water. He swapped it out for a drip coffee instead, which was also watery and undrinkable. Such an incredible waste of time and money. Everyone else there was standing around complaining about how bad their experience was and the insane wait. It could have even been tolerable if they had been honest or apologetic but no. They were not phased at all.You just had to be there, but be glad you weren’t.
