Firebirds Wood Fired Grill

One of my favorite nicer dining restaurants. Never disappoints. Food and drinks were spot on and Our server Luis in Gainesville did an outstanding job!!

Our experience started with arriving at the restaurant at just after 5 pm and because we didn't have a reservation , it would take at least 30 min to seat us, even though we could see empty tables. They said they had too many reservations to take care of, but no one was there. We left. I got on Open Table to see what other restaurant was around and sure enough there were reservations available at Firebirds. So I made a reservation for 15 min later. We walked back in 3 min before the reservation and had to wait 10 min for a table. To be honest, I think they "may" have been short-staffed, which caused tis slow down. Anyway, we were seated at a table that was sticky, even though it had been wiped down. These tables need sanding and refinishing and a polyurethane applied. It just felt dirty sitting there. Our server was very pleasant and helpful. We tried the lobster queso. That was very good. My husband had the wood-grilled salmon, which he said they cooked perfectly for him. I had the roasted chicken summer special. The chicken was cooked and juicy. Very good. The food is good and good value for the money. So other than a hostess issue at the start and a sticky table, it was a nice visit.

Everything was great until an overcooked steak arrived for my wife. She ordered medium and received a well done dry filet.

Over all very nice, my only complaint is the waitress did not clear table before she brought out Birthday desert for our guest.

Our waiter was amazing (Yohaness). He was attentive and made our experience pleasant. We will definitely be back!

You can always tell a restaurant with great management. They greet you with a smile at the reception desk, your table is ready when reserved, the server is knowledgeable and efficient, the food is hot and tasty... all at a reasonable price. 

First time here. many choices, and everything we tried was delicious. Wait staff was great.

Service was very slow. Food was fine. We had a reservation but still waited 10 minutes for a table when we arrived

Went for happy hour. Nice place to go for lite bites and drinks.

A nice neighborhood bar and Happy hour or lunch. Or a very good steak dinner. Reasonable price:
Great covered outdoor section.

I want to thank Firebirds for accomidating our last minute increase in our party size at the last minte. As always the overall experience was excellent and I will continue to visit Firebirds at every opportunity!

Our experience with Gainesville VA Firebirds is always excellent. Food fantastic, it's quiet, and the service provided by Angel, who we always ask for, is out of this world. Not to say that the other servers are not good, they are, but Angel goes far above and beyond. Firebirds is on our rotation of restaurants that we frequent near our home .

We had a great birthday celebration and the food was excellent. Especially the lemon cake.

The service provided by Byron and his complete staff was excellent as we were celebrating our 56th wedding anniversary !! Angel, our attendant was truly an “Angel “ since she took care of our needs from the initial “house margarita “ rimmed with sugar for Lucy and my house IPA hazy draft pint, to our “wood grilled chimichurri shrimp appetizer, to their new summer menu of “steak frittes “ and “steak penne “. We topped it off with their famous “cream brûlée cheese cake “ and their “carrot cake with hot carmel sauce “.!! What an excellent evening !! Thanks to everyone!!

Far too noisy for conversation. The food is good, as is the service. But it is overshadowed by the excessive noise levels.
