Stopped here exclusively to try the biscuits and gravy with the intent to validate the one previous review on here that knocks it.Spoiler alert: it doesn't taste like dishwater. It's good.Is it a simple/thinner/white gravy? Yes.There's salt and pepper on the table.Staff was beyond friendly, the place was clean, and it was a cozy little diner. You can see into the kitchen from the bar and it's clean and they wear gloves. This diner exceeds expectations, and when we stop by again, we will visit :)

Title: A Disappointing Breakfast ExperienceI recently visited a local restaurant for breakfast with a companion, and unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired. We ordered a bacon breakfast sandwich with gravy and biscuits, as well as sausage patties, eggs, gravy, and biscuits. However, our patience was tested as we waited a staggering 46 minutes for what should have been a basic breakfast.Upon entering the establishment, it became apparent that cleanliness was not a priority. I sat at the bar, which offered a view into the kitchen, and I immediately regretted my decision. The sight alone should have prompted me to leave, but we decided to give it a chance. When our meals finally arrived, I was taken aback by their appearance. The gravy, in particular, was visually unappealing. Instead of the creamy white color characteristic of traditional gravy, it resembled grey dishwater. Though I attempted to taste it, I couldn't bring myself to consume even a single bite. The flavor was reminiscent of flour-flavored dirty dishwater, causing my stomach to churn instantly. To compound the disappointment, everything on our plates was served cold. While the eggs were dry but somewhat edible, I couldn't risk the possibility of food poisoning at this point. The sausage, with its gamy taste, wasn't the primary issue. Rather, it was the glossy, translucent film that cracked when I cut into it, leaving me puzzled as to its nature. It had a consistency similar to a glazed donut, but I can't assure you that it wasn't actual glaze. After reluctantly sampling a bit of the eggs, sausage, biscuits, and gravy, I decided to set my plate aside. The waitress, who had previously inquired if we were satisfied, didn't bother asking how we liked our food. It was clear that she already knew. Without hesitation, she promptly discarded my full plate, a fate it rightfully deserved. In all honesty, I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone, except perhaps the health department. The experience was marred by an excessively long wait, a lack of cleanliness, unappetizing food, and an indifferent staff. Save yourself the disappointment and seek out a more enjoyable breakfast spot elsewhere.

This was mine and my friends' first time visiting the area and were in town for a wedding. Some locals highly praised Creekside as their local go to for breakfast. We were looked forward to having a good southern breakfast. We drove by many other diners and could tell that we would have a wait regardless of which place we went with...So when we walked in and noticed they were quite full we did not make a fuss as that is understandable being a Sunday. We did not mind waiting at all. From the start the waitresses were so attentive and welcoming! My friends and I were so pleasantly surprised with the food and ambiance of the whole place. It was very nice and lovely. We loved the wide array of choices on their menu and ultimately decided to try their breakfast dishes. We all ordered a variety of foods. So we could all mix and match and try each other's plate! lol. We ordered eggs, omelettes, bacon, sausage, gravy. For dessert we had cinnamon rolls and those were to die for! We were more than happy with our meals, and we will be back again!

Waited 46 mins for this. I literally could not eat it. I almost threw up trying a bite of the gravy.
Let me start this by saying I worked several years in food industry and waited tables for many years! This was the absolute worse food or customer service I have ever had in a restaurant.Someone came and took our drinks. We asked if an item was still on the menu and her words were. I don’t know it’s my first day. And she never came back. After waiting 15 minutes I went to the counter and asked if someone was going to take our order. Another girl came over and took our order. We asked a question and she said I don’t don’t this is my second day. After 30 minutes they started bringing food out or so we thought. They brought one plate of food for a party of 8. The party to the left of us canceled their order after waiting forever. The girl was carrying out food to their table and he said I canceled my order and her words were well I don’t want take this back to kitchen and set it on table. Turns out some of that was our food but anyhooo. My daughter went to ask if there was a mix up and the owner said they were working on it. I went to counter and asked how far into making the rest of our food we would pay for our drinks and they said 5 min would be out. They finally brought our food bits and pieces at a time. The apples were so hard it was as if they were not cooked. The oatmeal was like concrete. The potatoes tasted like they had soaked in grease for hours. Some biscuits were hard as a rock ( believe were under a lamp) because the others were doughy. The bologna was not fried. My husband, brother in law , son and and daughter were raised right and won’t eat with out everyone at table having their food. By the time everyone got the food the eggs were disgusting. There was a hair in one plate and by that point I was like no we are done. When I went to the counter to pay for our drinks the owner gave a story he was sorry we were frustrated the girl took our drinks and went on break but he would give us a discount. I said the wait is the least of the problem and I tell him how bad the food was . I tell him the food was horrible and a plate had a hair in it and his response was you took some bites and look over there like we was lying. He then said I’ll take $20 off the full order. After he was completely rude and act like we was lying. I said no screw this and you I’m not even paying for my drinks and the one plate of edible food. He said you’re on camera I’ll call the cops. My exact words were I’m going to float the River as you already know because my daughter told you this when she asked if there was a mixup but here is my number to give the cops.I really wasn’t going to leave a review as my brother in law had already left one WHILE WE was sitting there about the hair . And you made up an ENTIRE LIE on his review about your waitresses had no complaints about the food. Then go onto say other customers informed you who the other people were that made a scene and they do this at all other businesses. That’s a bold face lie! I know no one else said that because it was first time we had ever been to Galax VA ever and that was just to float the New River. Your mistake was you didn’t know the lady who caused a scene and the man with a hair were at the same party or didn’t care one. I’m going with option #2. Since you also posted something on your Facebook post that couples got up and left after waiting 15 minutes. You give Mom and Pop cafes a bad reputation! We went to Dominos which was amazing by the way! If you’re local go check this place out!!!!

I was in town with friends for the local flea market and we were all getting hungry after walking around. Before heading home we decided to stop in and get a bite to eat at a local eatery. We stopped by and noticed it was a little busy, but understandably so on a holiday weekend. They let us know that it would be a bit, but we didn’t mind waiting and weren’t in a rush. Luckily our food arrived to us pretty quickly too. The girls waiting on us told us they were new and we were more than patient as we all have been there, we commended them for their hard work. They definitely worked hard to assist everyone, despite being hassled by a few lowly individuals. Our food arrived hot and everything looked so appetizing. The staff and owner were so nice and accommodating. Everyone went out of their way to make sure everyone was happy. We all enjoyed our food and everything was so delicious! We will be back again next time in town

Hey y’all! This is William’s family, we wanted to post a review for our favorite local diner! My family and I always enjoy eating at your café and love visiting with y’all! We all wanted to say, we are thankful to have y’all here. You do so much for your customers. A friend told us about the disturbance the disruptive table enacted on y’all and the staff. I’m sorry that you had to put up with some horrible people. It is sad what this world is coming to. I don’t understand how people could make a conniption fit and then lie about their food after eating it...and the audacity to not even pay for the food is truly bafflingHow people treat workers and the ones who are there to wait on them says it all about the person they are. All of us recognize that everyone is new to something and has to be trained, people need to be more patient and understanding instead of abusing new staff. My family and I thought the waitresses were spectacular and gave it their all, in spite of what was thrown at them. You should know that y’all are wonderful people and we all support you. Some people, no matter what you say to them and try to do to make things better, are just so bitter. Just remember the way they treat you and others, is a statement about their character and who they are as a human being. We will be in again when you reopen this weekend!

Food was cold, wasn't what we ordered, and service wasn't here. One of us found a hair in our food. Was not impressed.***Edit***In response you the owners remarks, I was in a party of 8, and made this review while sitting in your restaurant. There were 4 complaints made while we were there. Of which we were finally told it is what it is. At no point were we asked how our food was. 6 of plates were not touched. I tried to eat some of my plate which the food was cold and I could not eat my food. We are not from Galax this was our first trip there. We were visiting and having breakfast before floating the river. We did not cause a scene the table behind us did. We refused to pay for food that was not eaten. Your husband who we complained to twice was condescending and never once apologized for the poor service we received. Your waitesses did the best they could with very poor training. Never once were we rude to the waitresses. We also had to get our own refills while we were there for over an hour waiting for our food. The highlight of this visit to your restaurant was the 13 cats in the back, they are so cute!

If I could leave zero stars I would I spent 100 dollars at this ripoff business that sold me dollar tree food for steak house prices, my 12oz hamburger steak was two pieces the size of a mcdouble patty, I asked for mashpotatoes and received soggy cheap frozen fries I could buy at walmart for a dollar a bag, I ordered Flounder and received a piece of frozen fish patty that taste worse than the cheapest ones u could buy in store, the different sides I ordered mac and cheese and received more of the soggy cheap fries that were barely fried long enough just to warm up not even really cooked, missing pieces of the "Texas toast" which was the butt ends of sandwich bread. The sauces were rancid, the chicken tenders were so hard it was like trying to eat a tire. DO NOT GO HERE FOR GODS SAKE!!!!!! I have a feeling the "positive" reviews are the owners leaving behind reviews because if anyone enjoys this trash then they need to be evaluated, save ur money and just go buy food at dollar tree it will be better quality.
