Excellent lunch on 12/3 at the BBQ Exchange. Staff was so friendly and welcoming. Restaurant dining room all decked out for Christmas. Food was delicious. I had the 3 meat platter (brisket, ribs and pulled pork) with potato salad and macaroni salad and a roll. Paid extra for a side of hush puppies and onion rings. The brisket was the "star" for me...melt in your mouth tender. Lots of sauces available at the table. Everyone in our party raved about how good the food was. Other sides tried: cole slaw, greens and fries and baked beans. Favorites were the hush puppies and onion rings and greens. You place your order at the counter and then get your food (or they bring it to you if it requires special prep). Pick your seat and enjoy! Very clean restrooms too. Would highly recommend and will be stopping in again.
I have enjoyed eating at BBQ Exchange on many, many occasions over the past 15 years. My latest experience was different, and quite disappointing. Mid-week, mid-afternoon - and the place was nearly empty. Soda machine not working, so it was a $3.00 bottle of Pepsi from the cooler ($0.50 from the local FoodLion). One of my favorites, the andouille sausage sandwich, was overloaded with a seasoning that obliterated the taste of the sausage. The french fries were "old", barely warm, and covered with extremely salty seasoning. I picked the sausage from the bun, to eliminate some of the seasoning, and ate it; tried a few french fries. and then pitched everything into the trash container. I reported my experience to one of the employees, who said "I'm sorry." Where's Craig these days?
Pros:
- Awesome BBQ meat
- Good value for the money
- Good sized portions
- Outdoor seating
Neutral:
- Sides are only okay, nothing special
- Kids chicken tenders are only so-so
Cons:
- Long line
- Confusing ordering system.
- Fragmented way to be served food: somethings are collected at the counter at the time of ordering, others are delivered by numbers at your table.
- No fountain drinks, just Pepsi products in bottles

Nice place to eat but my online order took almost an hour to be ready, food is a bit pricey too for what you get.

A local BBQ joint with great variety and lots of choices. I had the Brisket Platter with onion rings, baked beans and pumpkin muffin. The wife had the Smoked Salmon Platter with broccoli salad, macaroni n cheese and cornbread. Most everything was great. The mac n cheese and broccoli salad were good but bland at best. We dined out on the porch because of our two dogs and they brought out a fresh bowl of water for them which was awesome. Many of the employees came out and visited with the dogs as well.
Satisfying pulled pork barbeque. Weekday middle of the afternoon and they were busy. Locals and tourists. Didn't lose their cool or their quality. Variety of BBQ, sides and sauces. We liked their Carolina sauce.
We happened upon this place by accident and decided to stop for lunch. Great stuff. The pulled pork was perfectly smoked and so tender. Highly recommended.
Best barbecue

$12 for this sandwich. Just the sandwich, no sides, no drink. Twelve dollars. Added a quarter for scale. Look at it. To call it underwhelming would be an understatement. I’m not a cheapskate and have no problem paying $12+ for a sandwich, but I expect more than something McGriddle sized. And I had to wait about 10-15 minutes for it after I placed my order!
I’d been here a few times over the years and thought it was a tad pricey but decent but this was my first visit in a while and definitely my last.
🔥 best BBq I've had in forever from buffalo to Wilmington super tender yummy goodness
Great customer service. Sadly our experience ( spending well over $100 ) was not very good. All of the staff was very pleasant and professional. The ribs very very dry like leather. Baked beans unfortunately dry as well and slaw wasn't sweet at all. This was our first time here and if you eat here I would say the brisket and and pulled pork are your best options. I unfortunately can't recommend.
Stopped in while on a family vacation. The two orders of chicken strips, half chicken and hush puppies were all burnt. If I don't ask for burnt, don't give me burnt food. The pulled chicken was delicious. The brisket was tender and delicious. We would go back when we visit Virginia again.
Staff and service prompt and professional! The food was better than before. We picked up pork BBQ & full rack of ribs. Ribs were great! The pork is still dry, but better than before. Still, it's a great place to enjoy! Quite cool inside 😎 👌
