We had our first visit tonight and were celebrating our recent engagement! It’s a very quaint, peaceful atmosphere, and we really enjoyed being served by the owners, Andrew and Lauren. They’re very friendly and their daughter was clearing tables and took our picture. While all our courses were wonderful (we each chose the opposite so we could taste everything), the cheese custard, fettuccine, and chicken stood out as winners. We had a longer drive so I ordered a pomegranate cocktail and it was fresh and went well with my courses. Highly recommend, easy parking on Main Street!

Pres des Pres must mean very expensive in French. Over $300 for salt cod and chicken. We came home and had a frozen pizza because we were still hungry. Food was very tasty, but the portions were tiny. Owners were kind and service was great. Perhaps it was the muscadine wine that threw me, but the wine pairing was not worth it. Trust me.

We went to Près des Prés for the first time during restaurant week, and we had a wonderful experience across the board.The food and drinks were fantastic—everything was carefully prepared and plated, and every item impressed. Playful twists on French classics, like the small scoop of brown sugar ice cream in the butternut squash soup, worked really well. And the mocktails at the bar were creative and satisfying. My personal favorite was the chai cake for dessert; the texture was perfect and the flavor familiar-yet-fresh.The staff and atmosphere, though, really put the experience over the top. The bartender and server were extremely personable, happy to chat with us for much of our meal, but also happy to leave us space. The chef herself even stopped by to see how our food was. All of this gave the restaurant a warm and inviting feel—far more personal than the average dining experience.We highly recommend this restaurant to anybody in the greater Charlottesville area. Definitely worth the drive!

Very cute French restaurant in picturesque town. Went for restaurant week and price was decent for fine dining experience. Food was pretty flavorful and they have a rotating menu so it's always something different. Butternut squash soup was alright, but the addition of ice cream and cookies was a unique touch. The French tacos are more like wraps, and tasted nice with the complementing salad. Chai cake for dessert was delicious! Would come back but only for very special occasions.

TY Andrew and team, great meal for 4 with superb food, excellent starter cocktails for the table (the beet boulevadier was great) and strong finish with the Chai Cake with sauce Anglais. Three enjoyed the rockfish while I devoured the Duck Confit with braised beans, arugula and kohlrabi. TY for the attention to detail and letting the group enjoy themselves. Hope to meet the chef. Glad this is a local restaurant.... Will be back soon.

This was such a perfect way to spend a relaxing evening before the holiday. The food was delicious with a clear focus on seasonal ingredients. We did the wine pairing and it was clear the thought that had been given to each dish and wine. The service was attentive but not overwhelming. I would highly recommend for a special dinner just outside Charlottesville.

This is the second time for dinner at Pres Des Pres and we really enjoyed our meals both times. The fixed menu is not limiting at all because each course is done so well you wouldn't have it any other way after you taste it. We enjoyed each menu item thoroughly and thought the entire menu together was such an enjoyable experience. The food is high quality, the scallops were to die for and the beef tartar was impeccable. The execution of each course could not have been better, absolutely no complaints. I enjoy the rotating menu every month because it's like a new experience all over again. This would be a great place to go an experience firsts, your first time trying venison, your first time having pre fix menu, etc.
Definitely add the pairings!!
