I've been here 3 times now and I've NEVER been anywhere 3 times and it been excellent all 3 times. Tonight was Valentine's Day so there were specials. I had the 12 Oz. prime rib, a side salad and of course the best onion rings you'll ever eat. It was delicious as always. If you like BBQ, I can't say enough about this place. The people, the food, the atmosphere, you can't go wrong with Mookies.
I got take out. The burnt ends are mighty tasty. The smoked sausage is very good with their spicy sauce. Get potato salad as a side,

Great food, great service, even had a cool bar (i didn't know this) for me to chill at while i waited for my order. Will be back to try more stuff but i loved the ribs, collards, mac n cheese this time. My son got the chili and pulled pork. Also all very good.

My husband and I were there for happy hour so I only ordered the chicken tenders, but OMG…dare I say that they were the best chicken tenders ever? Yup! I said what I said! Super crispy breading, tender chicken and the right amount of spices! De-lish! We’ll be going back to try the rest of the menu!

Met the owner, great guy. Smoked meat were incredible, homemade! Colcaine soooooo good. Sooo good. Jalapeño mac and cheese is nuts!!!! Pork chop!!!!! Oh man, w great beers too!! Got carryout too, so good for the next two days! Mmmmmmmmm.

So I would give the food a five stars, but I have eaten BBQ in Texas and KC often and I am a food snob…but don’t get it twisted, Mookies hits the spot. Overall, 5 stars for this place. They are always so kind and on top of things. Definitely one of the better BBQ spots in the DMV.The one thing I will agree with tho with other reviews...Mac n Cheese game is meh. It's not hard to add some seasoning, haha. Heck, better yet...smoke the Mac n Cheese and add some paprika.Update: In response to the owners remarks...I will try that today. I just made an order for delivery (First time doing delivery so I really hope you all tape it up and protect it from tampering), and got the mac and vinegar side...looking forward to it.
Had the brisket platter with Mac and cheese and collard greens.The brisket was good and sizeable.The Mac and cheese was bland and kind of disappointing. The mac and cheese definitely needed seasoning.The greens were also good.They had great sauces and the staff is very friendly

They have open mic on Friday nights. Also, the chocolate chip cookie with ice cream is delicious. Overall for my first experience it was nice.

We got the BBQ sampler at 6:30p on Thursday. We sat in the adjacent dining room because it was trivia night and the bar was rather loud and all patrons were having a good time. Our wait staff was very attentive though they tried to remove full plates of food. The brisket was dry, the baby back ribs were bland, the shredded chicken and pork were ok, the burnt ends were large but not the best. The corn bread was really dry, even butter didn't help. The unfortunate experience was the premium Mac and cheese which was not edible (noodles overcooked, no seasoning, and other than the crusty top, the cheese taste was missing - our waitress did take it off the bill). It's the only BBQ around. We will look for other options.

I ordered the wings and SR burger for pickup. Both were bland but good enough. I thought the SR burger came with coleslaw on the burger as depicted in picture but mine didn’t. The onion rings were amazing
