Early Katering Company

We had an excellent experience with Early Catering Company at our wedding this past weekend. The food and service staff members were remarkable. The staff was experienced, prompt, self-guided, clean, and friendly. We received all positive feedback from our wedding guests not only about the meal but about the joyful interactions they had with the catering staff. Craig was excellent at ensuring we had everything we needed throughout the evening, including packaging up leftovers before leaving. Thank you again! We highly recommend and I know some of our guest are already planning to use Early Catering Company at future events.

I recently attended a wedding in Virginia at a beautiful farm location. Early Katering Company was assigned to handle the food portion of the wedding. Unfortunately there were several very concerning issues. Many of the items that were listed on the menu did not make it to the venue which caused not only the appetizers but the main course to be subpar and almost inedible. The menu stated that the cheese/meat platter would have crackers or crosstinis /something to eat the cheese with but it never made it to the venue. Also there were no napkins or plates for any of the guests to utilize while eating the hors d'oeuvers /appetizers. When it comes to the main course there were also several important ingredients missing. According to the menu there should have been a glaze on both the meat and salmon selections. Unfortunately the chicken breasts were cold and dry and did not have the accompanying sauce (which was supposed to be a part of the menu). Secondly the salmon which was the other Main entree was missing a bourbon glaze sauce (again which was part of the menu) therefore making the salmon dry and tasteless. The remainder of the dinner selections were room temperature at best. I felt extremely bad for the newlyweds who spent so much time and money on planning this wedding to have such a big element of the event botched.

I selected this company to cater my wedding, and it unfortunately was a disappointment. Throughout the process despite being explicit about our wishes, there were large errors on our wedding day. We requested to have chicken with a white wine/sage sauce, and instead on our wedding day it was just breaded chicken with no sauce. Similarly we requested salmon with their blackberry/bourbon glaze, and instead there was just baked salmon with no sauce. The food was additionally lukewarm, and those were our two main entrees, so that was extremely frustrating. With our charcuterie grazing board at cocktail hour, there were no crackers or crostinis present despite that being in the description and on our contract. We spent so much money and devotion on this aspect of our wedding day, only to have these issues occur and guests state their dislike of the food quality/taste.

Communication with this vendor was overall frustrating as the owner would often check up/clarify decisions that have already been established, and the items that she hoped to confirm were often not accurate. Five days before our wedding, she had asked to confirm if we had one passed appetizer, when we had previously established the 3 items we wanted passed around. I also did not utilize their rental services for glassware/cutlery, and because of this they were not planning to supply anything for our cocktail hour despite having a stationary table and passed appetizers. If I did not inquire about it, they were not even going to provide us with cocktail napkins for the passed appetizers!

I have been in contact with the vendor since and she was able to provide us with a partial refund (about 1/7 or 14% of what we paid), however this will not change my feelings or frustration present during my wedding day. I would not recommend using this company for wedding catering.

Early Katering was the perfect choice for my small wedding near Charlottesville! They set everything up exactly as we had planned and the food was great. Highly recommend their garlic mashed potatoes and the salad with pears, goat cheese and walnuts!

What an amazing team Early Katering in Harrisonburg,VA is! From the very early stages of planning Early Katering paid close attention to detail. We met with a staff member who went over the menu with enthusiasm and detail. We set up a tasting of our selections and they delivered taste and excellence. Brynne kept us updated on every detail. The staff at Early Katering was very professional and considerate.We received so compliments on the food from our guests.If you are planning an event make Early Katering your #1 choice! I don't even know where to start. I worked with Grace and she was so knowledgeable and helpful with making decisions. We bought for 80 people for our wedding reception and the food was absolutely amazing. All of our guests enjoyed everything. The co-owner went way above and beyond what's expected. And appreciated everything he did so much. Highly recommended for big or small crowds. Thanks Earlys Katering, for making our reception that more memorable.

Grace repeatedly set up phone call times via email and left us hanging with no call, only to tell us days later that our venue is outside of their service area. You would think the service representative would know this sort of information.
