My husband and I went for brunch on Saturday before a wedding. An hour after we placed our food order, our waitress said the ticket was lost. Everyone around us had already come and gone at this point. We understood that it was an accident but then she still made us pay for the full meal, didn’t even offer to comp our drinks. Once we got our food, we had to rush to eat to leave on time. Manager did nothing.

Loved that it is outdoor dog friendly and the food is delicious!
Stopped in on the way to DC on a Thursday morning. We were able to be seated right after we walked in which was wonderful. Service was fine, it is just difficult to hear clearly since seating is a little jammed (at least on the side closest to the bakery which is where we were.) I would give the lattes a 10/10. My breakfast sandwich bread was dry and there wasn’t much sauce to balance that out so I was disappointed in my selection . My husband enjoyed his bowl though. If I were to go back, I would order something more traditional like the french toast or waffles or just order from the bakery- the almond croissant was to die for!!

This is one of the best breakfast/brunch places I have ever been to. I arrived with my family approximately 30 minutes before they opened. There was already a decent amount of people waiting to get in. We were told to arrive early since it was move-in weekend at JMU. The food was delicious. The pastries are absolutely amazing.
I'll echo others statements in that parking was a bit tight in the area.

Brunch Bliss in Harrisonburg!
We were in Harrisonburg, VA for my son’s AAU basketball tournament and decided to refuel at Magpie’s for brunch… and wow, we might have found our new must-stop spot!
We grabbed a table outside, and the vibe was just right …sunny skies, fresh air, and the kind of relaxed energy that makes you want to stay all afternoon. The staff treated us like old friends, the menu read like a love letter to brunch, and every bite lived up to the hype.
From the first sip of coffee to the last forkful, everything was delicious and fresh. My family loved it so much we joked about signing the kids up for more tournaments in Harrisonburg just for another excuse to come back.
If you’re anywhere near Harrisonburg, skip the chain spots and head straight to Magpie’s. This place is a slam dunk! 🏀🥞

Harrisonburg was the midway point on a long trip, and we needed to get coffee and pastries on our way out of town. The Magpie looked like a great option. The bakery had an amazing assortment of goodies, and we really loved the za'atar and gruyere, the ham and gruyere croissant, and the sweet cherry danish. Also got a chocolate chip cookie that I ate two days later which was still crazy good. Great selection, great food, friendly service. Wish we could have stayed to dine in as the main diner looked fantastic. Can't recommend this place highly enough!

We had a fabulous experience at this awesome local spot. We waited about 15 minutes on a Saturday morning for brunch. It was worth the wait! The food was excellent, the service was awesome, and they were super kid-friendly- there were lots of babies in there, including ours! Can’t wait to come back.

Picked up some baked goods from here while in the area on vacation. Can report that the sourdough loaf and the chocolate croissants and absolutely excellent.
While visiting the city, I found this breakfast spot on DoorDash. I ordered pick up. It’s located on a busy street with limited parking, but I was glad I found a perfect place right in front of the restaurant. I’m glad I read that pickup orders were in the bakery of the restaurant, because I walked in the restaurant, and I wasn’t greeted. The workers (maybe hostesses) behind the bar area just looked at me with a vapid stare. I immediately noticed the bakery door and picked up my food. I witnessed one of the baker women swat and kill a fly on the dough board. She looked at me and half smiled, never speaking. At least one of the workers spoke on the way out. I’m from the DC VA MD metro area, so I’m used to patronizing some of the best restaurants in the country, where people are educated, cultured, and used to diversity. Although the food was good, the staff needs help. They presented as hicks, trying too hard for something more, but delivering something less in a developing town. Unfortunate.

I got the Turkish Eggs and it was truly one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever eaten in my life. The feta yogurt was super creamy and tangy and the eggs were cooked perfectly. I am not from the area but would try one of everything off the menu if I was local!

YMMYHY. so cute place and has good matcha would def recommend and i love all their food. Love them and so cute. Def gonna try to come back. Friendly staff as well
Little to no parking on site, but within walking distance of a few free public parking spots. Food and drinks are great. A little pricier, but it's quality. Usually a bit of a wait time though. Best bet is to go in the middle of the week before a lunch rush.
