Top notch food and service. Recommend for locals or people passing by. The burger never fails!

A little pretentious, but was good. Some folks may go for the thought of being fancy or whatever but they could stand to take themselves a smidge less serious. Good food, felt like it was intentionally done-up to be on the fancy side but priced well.

Coffee was lukewarm at noon when ordered; waiter agreed to bring fresh but then tried to pour it on top of old -- asked him to bring a fresh cup -- which he did. Rueben was toasted too long -- charred on the outside and stiff -- edible, but not great. For $17.00 one might expect the kitchen to try harder. Overall, this is one of the nicest places we're seen recently in Harrisonburg - it reminds us of the old Union Station, which we loved. Parking across the street works but it can be crowded on a weekend. The wait staff appeared to be working really hard and ever slowing down for a minute. Hostess who greeted us was warm and very pleasant -- escorted us to our table immediately. Despite the criticisms (which are offered to help them improve), we'll be back!
I really liked this place. Make sure you park across the street. The appetizers are to die for, so good! The crab cakes are delicious and I really liked the sweet potato fries but didn't love the side salsa. My s/o had a steak and it could have used a better sear but the inside was cooked to perfection. Our waiter was the best, so friendly making sure we understood the menu. All in all, I would come back here again.

Chicken was overcooked. Prime rib was a little chewy. Expected better quality for the cost of dinners.
Our waitress, Sophie, was the best! Super personal and professional. She was patient and thorough with the questions we had about the menu. She also was so kind when we shared that by daughter had graduated from JMU that day.
Always an excellent time and delicious food!! One small pet peeve.... We ordered the wings and other apps for our table of 6 to share. It would have been helpful if the waiter said there were only 5 in the order since we were 6, we would have ordered 2.... Usually wings come in 8 so that was a little annoying and most waiters will tell u there are less than the number of people when ordering a few sharing apps. Food was really good!
The hostess and waitress were very pleasant, attentive, and welcoming. The food and drinks were very good as well and we had a lovely dinner. We had the meatloaf, salmon, mushroom pasta, shrimp and grits, and pork chop and everyone was very pleased with their dishes.
Great cocktails and food. We dined there during JMU grad weekend so it was busy, and they were on a limited menu. Everything was great and we would be back. My only negative was that we ordered cocktails, apps, entrees, AND desserts (which included post meal dessert cocktails) and were told twice that we needed to leave because there was a reservation waiting for our table. We felt rushed at the end which was disappointing since we had been ordering with the flow of service. I would still go back though as we really enjoyed everything we had.
This was our first time at Rocktown Kitchen and we were celebrating a special event! The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed themselves. While a bit pricey, each person enjoyed their meal. Would certainly come back again!

We had one of the best lunches anywhere The chef cares about everything that comes out of his kitchen from presentation to taste Cant wait to return for dinner. This is a true winner👍👍👍👍👍
The table was ready within 10 minutes of our reservation time, which I felt was appropriate on a busy weekend with local college football game. The food was delicious. I enjoyed the shrimp and grits while other diners enjoyed the steak, chicken and crab cakes. We were dining with two individuals who had gluten and dairy allergies and the waitstaff and kitchen was very knowledgable and helpful about how to accommodate those allergies. One item to note is that the menu is very sophisticated and therefore was a little much for my 10 year old's simple taste buds so might not be best for young children. But for sophisticated taste buds, it was fantastic!
The food never misses a beat. It's basically a bar, but the food isn't bar food by any stretch of the imagination.
Whereas the regular menu is average and has not changed in a long time, the specials are usually very good.
Rocktown Kitchen is a guarantee for a consistently good dining experience. The food is high quality and delicious each visit along with their service. The burrata appetizer was so delicious with the chopped tomato topping and balsamic reduction. We also had shrimp and grits and the mahi mahi special. Each dish was outstanding. Rocktown Kitchen is a must visit when in Harrisonburg.
