$2.50 secret upcharge for vodka sauce which was practically nonexistent. I got there to pick up my takeout order and she told me $20 for my chicken Parm sandwich, I said how’s that? And found out about it at that time. I get that I asked you to substitute vodka sauce, but you’re supposed to say that’ll be an additional $2.50 is that OK? At which point I say wait a minute is this Vinny’s? And then hang up because that’s where I was really trying to call. Don’t multitask at stoplights, folks. And by the way there was hardly any sauce at all, about near the driest chicken parm I’ve had. Well, never again.

Went here with our big and loud Italian family.
Service was incredibly kind and patient. Not one mistake with our order despite the modifications and the mind changes.
The atmosphere is comfortable, clean and very cute, you really felt like you were in a business where the owner cares.
Mozzarella sticks were super delicious. Not your average cheap frozen mozzarella sticks but rich and cheesy sticks with very good breading. The free garlic knots are insane. I made the mistake of filling up on them but I couldn’t help myself because they were so delicious. Their pizza was delicious, house made dough and they were not stingy with the cheese. I had the cannelloni entree. Meat filled pasta tubes with tomato sauce and béchamel. Perfect portion size. I loved it. A dish you do not often see on Italian menus.
I will definitely go back to Vito’s next time I am in Harrisonburg. A family owned place with great value and great heart.

Good service and atmosphere. Food was very mid. Overly greasy pasta w/ oil pooling in the bowl. Very average sandwich, not unlike what can be found at the premade deli section of a grocery store.

Very happy with Vito's Italian Restaurant, stopped in for lunch after running an errand in Harrisonburg I had the ham and capicola sandwich with a side salad and my wife had a Greek salad. Both were tasty and the portion sizes were generous. The service was great as well; would definitely return in the Harrisonburg area.

Growing up in an Italian neighborhood I know authentic Italian food. I didn’t expect to find it in Central Virginia but I was wrong.

We enjoyed a great Rigatoni and a spectacular Gnocchi. We will make a point to visit Harrisonburg again our next time we are anywhere near here.

Just had the Alfredo. You would think a true italian restaurant would have this dish figured out.
It was bland, no flavor at all. Some large greated parm cheese would have helped, possibly. At a cost of $19.00 + it is not too much to add that parm. Will not visit this restaurant again.

I’ve been a loyal customer here for 5 years. Service has declined immensely over the years, and I say that as someone who has worked in this industry. So I no longer eat in the restaurant, I just have it delivered. Ordered the rigatoni from Doordash today and noticed it just didn’t taste right, so I decided to look a bit closer. I found not one, not two, but FIVE black hairs cooked into the food, and that was just on the top of the dish. I will not be going here again and advise others to do the same. At least check your food if you do 🤢

The food is very good. My complaint is they charge $6.00 for garlic knots. They are free at the other Vito's.
Also they charge you extra if you add onions or olives to a salad. That is ridiculous and they don't tell you it's extra.

The lasagna was fabulous and such a generous serving, some went home with me. The pizza is always good! Our waitress was sweet as could be and anticipated when we needed drink refills. This is a great place to eat.

This Vito's is a full restaurant, not just pizza. My husband had the marsala with ribs*it was a special). So good. I got a bowl of tomato soup, which was perfect for a cold evening. The salad was also good. We'll be back!

Let’s get right to it.

The garlic knots were good, but they were swimming in way too much olive oil for me. I know some people like that, but I don’t. Otherwise, not a bad first food impression.

It is a cozy atmosphere. The lighting is just bright enough for dinner conversations and to set a good mood. The wait staff were very friendly, very helpful and the meal came within a respectable time even though the restaurant was full. The price was also very attractive. For the portion sizes I think this is borderline cheap. All of these are high praise.

However… the food while it looked good, we were not impressed. My wife ordered the chicken marsala and after two bites sent it back to the kitchen and got herself a cheese pizza instead. I got the Pappardelle Alfredo with chicken, and I was not impressed either. Both sauces had a little bit of a chalky taste to it. Like it was made from store-bought powdered box sauce that wasn’t mixed properly. I also didn’t care for and the chicken. You can tell that it was recently thawed out before they threw it in the pan. Anyone who’s ever cooked anything in your lives will know what I’m talking about. When you defrost chicken and then cook it in a short space of time you get that little chewy almost rubberyness to the chicken, and that’s what I had tonight.

The pizza my wife got was decent. And it had better be, because if you mess up cheese pizza, you really have no business in this game. Unfortunately, the cheese pizza was the highlight of our meal experience tonight. I did not like my meal, though I finished most of it, and my wife had to return hers because it was just not worth the effort to chew.

I hope this was just an off-night, because I have scanned through several of these reviews and they were all glowing and gushing about the food quality, and I unfortunately did not experience any of that tonight. We’ll be back in the area a few months now, and we’ll try it again, and see if the experience repeats, or this was just one of those nights where the actual chef was out and there was a substitute cook in the engine room. We’ll see.
