Before I would have recommended this place but sadly I can not now. We go here for the sushi. We made reservations for 2 at 2 and then called the next day to add a third person. We drove an hour only to get there and be told that there was no sushi. The sushi cook had quit and the owner was only doing sushi for dinner 2 days a week!! The owner didn’t even bother to tell us that when making reservations both times we called. Very upsetting because they always had the best sushi. I will say the waitress did give us a $30 gift certificate but I won’t be back until they have a sushi cook. Good luck finding a replacement for that guy. Especially in Kilmarnock.

Starting on the positive: the food was amazing! Seriously the pest Pad See Ew I’ve ever had.
It seems that there was only one cook and one waiter so we waited almost an hour for our food to come out. It seems they need help with staffing. The server we did have was very kind. This place has a lot of potential.

My wife and I visit the Kilmarnock area often by boat and while at the marina look for good restaurants for takeout. Yesterday she was in town and went to this Thai restaurant for two take out meals. One was chicken with cashews. The other was drunken noodles which also was to contain chicken. Both meals were very mediocre. The second consisted of almost no chicken, was very bland and had tons of pasty noodles. It was awful. The first was modestly better. I was so bothered by what I felt was a bad deal that I called the restaurant and asked for the manager. The person that answered said that he was in charge at that time. When I explained my disappointment with the meals he asked for me to wait on hold. When he returned to the phone he said that he had checked with the person that had prepared the meals and they he had put sufficient chicken in both. When I told him that did not make this better he said that I would need to talk to the owner Tony and that he would have him call back shortly. He never called. Based on this I would absolutely not recommend this restaurant for eating in or out.

We had reservations for 5:30. Before we even sat down we placed an order for sushi because it takes so long. After the hour we asked our waiter to put our dinner order in because we were starving. The owner/sushi chef wasn’t organized so we ended up canceling the sushi and ate appetizers for dinner. This is the second time this has happened. Unfortunately we have learned not to eat here. The staff should prepare patrons for the lengthy wait. Also they added a 20% tip for five people and didn’t even mention it was on the bill. Frustrating for all of us who were looking forward to eating sushi.

Sadly I cannot recommend this place, but it is better than nothing. We arrived at 5:09 and our party of 2 was not served until 6:22. I would have been okay with the wait time if the food was worth it, but it was not. Small portions and very average in terms of taste and not worth the prices they are charging.

Dining in is second to takeout
⭐ 1 Star

The sushi was fine, but the service ruined my birthday dinner. We waited 1 hr 15 min for food, and had to ask for the uncooked rolls to be brought out then, while our server ignored tables, let drinks sit empty, and chatted with takeout customers. Cooked rolls sat on the counter for 20 minutes longer before being served, and when we asked for a discount, we were refused. Dine-in guests are clearly second-class here — we won’t be back.

I’d like to note that I’ve been going to this restaurant and its sister restaurant in Gloucester, Bangkok Noir, for ten years. Up until the past 12 months service an food were great. Same owner, but service is now terrible.

I did order to go but the food over all was pretty great I ordered:

Chicken fried rice : 7.5 /10
Spring roll : 10/10
Chicken on a stick : 8/10
Chicken wings 4pc: 9/10 although they were not spicy or sweet
Sunrise Sushi Roll Fried :10/10 (beautiful thin crispy layer )
Japanese Beer: 10/10

Over all spent about 100 buckaroos
Will be returning to try other items and reorder some of the same items 👌🏾

My family has been going to this restaurant for over 4 years. We went yesterday and it was horrible. We were the first people to show up, three of us. It took over an hour and half to get our food. You could not get sushi because the new chef doesn't know how to make it. Of the four dishes ordered two were wrong. I was supposed to have one rice and one noodle. I was served two rice dishes. One of the rice dishes were supposed have chicken and shrimp. The rice was burned and so was the chicken. All vegetables were not cooked properly and left slightly raw. Nothing had flavor except one dish that was not ordered was so hot that no one could eat it.

I love this restaurant. Never thought I would give a bad review after all these years. Was terribly disappointed very few people there 6 seated. Two before us, and 3 after me and my wife. Took over 45 minutes to get out salads. Was given wrong sushi order that belonged to someone else which we immediately called out. Brought our food finally 25 minutes after which was two orders of special signature sushi on one plate. Which horrified my wife as never seen that before. Prefer our own orders on separate plates. We also ordered two signature to go. Which by God they put in same container?? Why? Why? I did not recognize the sushi chef but if it's not the other guy next time I am walking out. These super signature were all smaller than normal ?? Don't know why all this happened usually I am patient and forgiving but it was my wife's birthday and we both were very upset about the change in size of our sushi rolls I don't care care about the price going up. Just surprised and disappointed it was the only place my wife ever wanted to go for her Birthday. Don't think I will be back if this is the direction they have decided to go. PS not everybody wants there food on the same plate and sharing like it's a buffet unless they ask you to do so. Also, if your new sushi guy has been making signature rolls the same size as REGULAR sushi rolls and that's your new Protocol we won't be be back. Really sad about this and my wife was very upset.

We have seen Chao Phraya a number of times while driving to our property. We decided to stop in this Friday evening. The wait staff was very friendly. The food was good. The only reason why we gave it 4 stars is because it took 1.5 hours to get our food. That was a little longer than we were expecting. Our experience with Thai places is that they are fairly quick. We will go back but not when we are in a hurry.

The food was good and service only had one server and cook which made the wait time over an hour for a large group. Regardless, the food was decent.
