El Charro Mexican Restaurant

Great food. Waiter very attentive. Atmosphere close to authentic. No complaints whatsoever.

I went for lunch, for the price it had a nice flavor, fresh. Service was quick. Overall what you’d expect from a decent Mexican restaurant.

Very good Mexican food. Enjoyed everything.

We sat at the bar and three different people were there to take care of us. The beer selection is very small but it is cold and not expensive.

The chips and salsa was delicious- not super home made tasting but good. They also have the ranch-based sauce. Very tasty. Chips were hot. Not home made as far as I could tell. I ordered an appetizer which came fast and was very tasty.

This used to be a real local standout i loved going to, but then my most recent visit the salsa was absolutely horrid and tasted so much less on the normal par. I don't know if they changed something or if the ingredients chosen took a severe downturn but now one of my favorite aspects of this restaurant is extremely disappointing. I hope they address this.

I had the special, I'm sorry I can't remember the name of the burrito, but it was the best one I ever had. I told the waitress and she said that she is trying to get the management to put it on the main menu. Hopefully that description rings a bell for them and they do that. I guarantee when I see the name again, I'll remember.

Terrible experience, would not serve me alcohol because incapable of reading IDS. No one understood me and had to get the rude hostess to translate the whole time.

The place is super excellent, I recommend it, the staff is very friendly and attentive and without delay, very delicious delicious food ?

The front of house is awful. The food is great. I have come here at least 15 times. The food kept me coming back. The service though... I have been ignored, told I ordered wrong, given attitude for ordering takeout.

If you want to sit down and have a drink while you wait for take out, you will receive a negative feedback from the staff. Or just be ignored. I genuinely wanted to come here more often, but I've found better service with the same quality food at el ranchero a few minutes up the road.

I think I'm done giving them chances after tonight. I'm not looking for 5 star service, just basic manners when I'm getting the food, which again is delicious

Did a take out order and our experience was terrible. Firstly, their menu online has outdated pricing and when asked the guy at the desk said “yeah our boss raises the prices a lot”. Secondly, after discussing why the total for the meal was more than it should be they had tried to charge me twice for an item and it took me pointing it out repeatedly for them to acknowledge it and take the double charge off. Then when I receive my food that clearly stated to withhold certain toppings, the dish was covered in them. Took the food back in to get it fixed and they tried to tell me I was lying and that they shouldn’t have to fix their mistake. They finally did admit their mistake and fix it by making a new dish but I don’t appreciate being ripped off and called a liar. Definitely won’t be returning to this establishment. There is a great little Mexican restaurant in port royal that will get our business from now on.

Overall a very good experience! Menu was moderately sized, food was of good quality, with my only compliant being that there was a one time only one waiter for over a dozen tables, with him having to jog between tables and the kitchen. The restaurant looks much better inside than out, with a very solid atmosphere and overall look. A definite recommend!

I have no idea how this place got all these good reviews. Being from Texas I know good Mexican food & this is not it. The chips taste like they are store bought rather then made in house. The enchilada sauce is sweet. Never in my life have I had sweet enchilada sauce. It would have ruined my dish had the cheese enchilada not already been ruined by the white cheese which coated my teeth in sticky goo. ( Use Monterey Jack & cheddar). The tacos were nothing but dried out ground beef with a little ( very little) cheese. I cant even recall lettuce & no tomatoes. Wont be going back
