Every year for my birthday for about the past 7years, my husband or MIL call ahead to Chestnut Hill Bakery to order my birthday cake. My perfect birthday cake is the chocolate covered cream puffs My usual is an assortment of 3 large and 3 small, or 6 large. And they have the absolute best cream puffs (believe me I’ve tried sooooo many!) HOWEVER this year my MIL called 2 days before the desired pick up and whomever she spoke to was very rude and short with her as well as denying to make an advance order for these cream puffs even after she requested to pay for them up front to ensure they were paid for the items. But no “we don’t do that” along with “you have to come early to get what we have in the case”is all she rudely received in return. I’m not sure what has happened to why someone requesting an advance order and to pay in advance to be denied and spoken to rudely. Fast forward to this morning…. I go to get my birthday cream puffs with my husband…. The sweet girl at the register (sp) Asilynn was very accommodating however stated she only had enough custard to make 1 maybe 2 cream puffs. To say I was disappointed is putting it lightly. I only get them on a special occasion and yes my bday is a special occasion and that’s the ONLY thing I request. So in the end I did get a couple cream puffs but none to share with those who also celebrate with me (as it is my version of bday cake) I understand orders that are made and not picked up and the loss I’ve worked in the industry, but a patron pain in advance is a win you get paid for the item, even if it’s picked up or not, but the opportunity to resell. But overall, the rudeness was unnecessary and very poor customer service. Please do better we do love your bakery but things like this could change that.

Honestly I have always loved this bakery. Their Raspberry donuts are some of my favorite. I stopped by today for the first time in a year or so and I am blown away at the difference in the donut quality. They don’t have any real flavor to them at all. One of the smaller round donuts that should have had filling was empty. Very sad to see the quality this poor.
Great tasting cakes but be aware any order must meet their schedule with NO exceptions. Best to plan to place order 3 weeks ahead at least.

The sweets are very delicious. But the problem is ordering cakes. I ordered a sheet cake and two baby cakes for my birthday.I been waiting and thinking about my cake for a whole week on the email. My wife got the alert in her email about the cake I was so happy when she got it. When we got there this morning it was disappointment. All I got was 2 baby cakes and we didn't get the sheet cake. My wife didn't get any email alert from you all until the weekend and she checked her email every day. If you all are having problems with the email then you should have called. You had my wife's phone number and we can't call you because it goes right to voicemail. Now I'm just out of a birthday cake. I will not order a birthday cake online again. I'm very very disappointed. I'm 48 today and I have been going there since I was young.

Called all around town, being told my order was impossible or too expensive till I was driving by after work and saw this place that I thought was an abandoned building all my life of living here. I went called and online and filled out the form now, knowing they were still in business. My request was taken and executed perfectly. We wanted a half carrot half German chocolate cake decorated in the corresponding icing flavors and colors you'd get if you were to make a whole of each cake traditionally. Everything was perfect. Even down to the writing being in a perfect shade of baby blue that worked with the color of the chocolate and white icing (not to dark nor light) and the drawings of the chef utensils were just what we wanted. We were so happy to have an amazing cake for our surprise party. And more importantly, something great to give as a kind gesture to someone who deserved it. 100/10 still gets pastries from there
I just had an amazing pb brownie and it brought me back to the late 90’s and getting pb brownies here. So good. I miss them.
