Found this little gem when searching for place to eat not too close to Liberty U. Great location next to train tracks and James River.
Atmosphere was fantastic - old train depot furnished with church pews, vintage quilts and signs. A model wooden train engine adorns a wall. Beautiful turn of the century bar as you enter.
We both order blackened chicken Philly and they did not disappoint.
Since we were on a road trip north, didn't test any beer but you can be sure we will be back to do that.

Food was okay. I got their famous chicken tenders which were somewhat bland and dry. We also had the crab dip as an appetizer. It was super salty. Decent beer selection. Cool building.

I just had one of the best call in orders from a restaurant I have had in a long while. Chicken tenders and ribs were on point.

Between holidays, decided on lunch at Depot Grille. Travel through that area infrequently but enjoyed lunch there over the years, but had not been lately. Found it to be below acceptable on this occasion. The interior is in need of a refresh, and while the service was good, the food was unacceptable. The chicken salad was watery and all but void of chicken. The vegetables in the soup were very very few, and it was more like a broth with very little taste. These menu items should not be difficult to prepare and please the customer. It is preferable to charge more if that’s an issue and not skimp on quality.

Good food. Known for their chicken tenders. I had the oysters and they were the best. The breading was unlike what I am used to but was very good.

PHENOMENAL. Please go here instead of overthinking dinner plans. The food is consistently excellent, the portions are huge, and everything tastes like it was made by people who actually care. The menu has range without trying too hard, and it all just works.

Service has always been on point whenever I’ve been in. Attentive without hovering, friendly without being fake, and the place runs smoothly even when it’s busy. Great atmosphere, great drinks, and a solid spot whether you’re grabbing a casual meal or meeting up with people.

If you’re in Lynchburg and skip Depot Grille, that one’s on you. Easy 10/10.

The servings were large but i'm pretty sure the blackened grouper was blackened tilapia. It wasn't a flakey meat and tasted a little like catfish. Bartender/ Waitress was outstanding.

Depot Grille has a railroad theme with many old pictures and history related to the railroad in Lynchburg. Tables and booths are wooden and in line with the theme. Food and drinks were very good and the cost very reasonable. The staff was very friendly and prompt. Overall great experience.
