I have dined at the Grinin Bear multiple times. I get the same top notch service every time. I particularly enjoy their karaoke Thursdays. The entire staff works together to provide a family friendly and desirable environment for the community around them. Highly recommend and will always be a patron.

This Year my hubby & I had Thanksgiving dinner at Grinnin’ Bear with friends. It was the best Thanksgiving ever. What a layout of great food on an incredible Buffet. The worst thing was I could not stop eating. I wanted to try it all. No Way ! We will be back again, and again. We were thankful on Thanksgiving Day that you were open and we had somewhere to go. Special thanks to all your employees for giving up their day to make ours so special. We will be back before next Thanksgiving- for sure.

This tavern is way worth a visit!! It’s a beautiful view out back with a huge patio and the food is all home cooked meals made from scratch! All this with a good beer on tap, I couldn’t be happier. They’re great for a date night, out with friends or a private work function!

Fantastic night out. A friend told me about a band playing here and I got more than I expected. The wings were amazing and the staff was super nice.

I reached out to Brandon to book an event and the entire process was seamless. Chris and Brandon have done an exceptional job and have 2 rock star wives who go the extra mile. The staff are friendly and all of our guests had an amazing time! We are so grateful to the Grinnin Bear Tavern for their hospitality and accommodation!!!! Thank you all! Can’t wait to see you again! 🙌

We hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Grinnin' Bear and had a really great evening. Our menu included roast beef, pork tenderloin, glazed carrots, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, green beans, salad, apple cobbler, fresh fruit, and ice cream.
Overall the food was excellent and all in attendance commented positively. One attendee, a true born and raised southerner, would have been more than happy to have taken an entire pan of the sweet potato casserole home. The roast beef and pork were tender and flavorful, the glazed carrots were fantastic, the mashed potatoes (real not instant) were rustic and very good. The mac and cheese and green beans aere also very good. The 'salad bar' had a few assorted items (diced tomatoes, cucumbers, bacon, cheese, croutons) and a couple dressings and a bagged lettuce mixture. Overall, good but not on par with the rest of the menu.
Dessert includes apple cobbler which was average, vanilla ice cream, and a nice assortment of fresh fruit.
The service was fantastic, very friendly and eager to make the event a success.
The location has a nice deck overlooking a pond with a fountain and the inside dining area is older but clearly ownership is making improvements and they were eager to make sure any issues were addressed quickly.
So if you're looking to host a rehearsal dinner, a party, family get together, whatever we would suggest you give Grinnin' Bear a strong consideration. Its an easy going, comfortable location with well made food and a staff eager to make your event a success.
Would recommend!

Food was great, service was great, atmosphere was great. If you’re on the way to Appomattox or headed to Jefferson or Washington National Forests to camp out, then you’ll probably see this place and if your in the mood for some good food at a reasonable price I highly recommend it. Thanks again to Mr. Chris and everyone at the Grinnin’ Bear!
