Terrible waitress- not attentive and not pleasant. Seemed as though we were a bother. Only 5 people at our table.
Food portions are much smaller than they used to be.
Everything was amazing when we ate here!! The vol crab was my favorite Koto's has the best sushi and the food was amazing!!! I will be coming back to eat here again!!!
Nestled just a few storefronts down from where the old Big Lots used to be, my husband, our team, and I were excited about completing the new Crunch Fitness. Amidst the bustle of finishing a project, we stumbled upon Koto—a cozy little restaurant that initially impressed us with its warm hospitality.
Despite being a small venue, the staff at Koto wore many hats, serving as hosts, servers, and food runners. Our first visit was smooth and welcoming. We ordered sushi rolls and cocktails, which were served promptly and prepared well. My husband enjoyed a spider roll and a margarita variation, while I had a green dragon roll and a Tom Collins. Everything was delicious, and our server Tommy was friendly, attentive, and accommodating. We genuinely left that evening with great impressions.
Unfortunately, our experience on subsequent visits took a turn. During one visit, a younger staff member seemed visibly irritated when I asked for a more accessible seating arrangement. The booth was difficult for me to maneuver due to my disability, and trying to adjust the bench caused a minor scene. I couldn’t help but wonder if my condition contributed to the cold reception. A second staff member was similarly unwelcoming, which added to our discomfort.
We hoped it was just a bad night—but on our next visit, the same issues resurfaced. A loud and disruptive party disturbed the dining experience, and staff made no effort to intervene. Ironically, I was treated more harshly for politely requesting a seating adjustment than this group was for causing an actual disruption. One of the same staff members from before again stared at me with a glare that made me feel singled out and unwelcome.
On that visit, it took 45 minutes to complete a simple meal—soup, salad, sushi, and one drink—and we had to wait quite a while just for the check. The bench I sat on was also unstable and nearly caused me to fall; fortunately, I was able to brace myself by grabbing the table.
Sadly, what started as a place that felt like a hidden gem has proven to be inconsistent and, most concerning of all, not truly accessible or inclusive. We’ve made the difficult decision to revise our original five-star rating. Until the hospitality and care that initially impressed us returns, we won’t be back.
Can't think of anything else to say but Tommy runs an awesome little restaurant great food awesome service drinks are well worth the money
I have been going to Kotos for more then 30 years and love it every time. This past time we came for lunch around 330_4, we were served great from our waitress. However when we saw the food on the trays , they looked like it had been sitting on for days. My son actually said it looked alike a blob, I got the steak and shrimp, the steak tasted like it came from the dollar store. The rice was worse, it was mushy and old tasting. After our bill arrived it was $104.00 why? Because they charged us a gratuity of 4 , $14.00!!!!!! Im sorry but we will not be back until changes are made if ever.
We came in at a busy time, but we were seated soon after arriving, however we waited ,full table, for 30 min for chef to roll in with not so much energy, obviously tired and not ready to entertain,he was a good chef as far as the meal it was prepared as well as he could but the shrimp were small the vegies consisted of zucchini broccoli, onions,,and a whole lot of carrots, they used to use mushrooms but don't any more, all in all I give it a low 4,my meal for two ,chicken and steak, and filet and Scallops was over 70 after20percent tip,
And 1hr 45 min in total
This was the first time we ever had Hibachi. What a fun experience! This place may not be high end, but the food and service were very good.

Dolan is a fantastic chef. The experience sitting at his table was great and we throughly enjoyed our dinner. Food was delivered almost at the same time and was hot and delicious. Kristy/Krissy was our waitress and took great care of us. She was very pleasant and attentive and was a complete joy!

Sushi sucks now. I specifically asked the lady that answered the phone if the sushi rolls are just as good as the previous location and she assured me it's the same great sushi. It's not. Rice is soggy, tempura shrimp is soggy. They should have just closed down. The place looks like a fast food restaurant now.

I love the new space. Food is just as good as the old location. Despite 27 years, it's nice to still see Dolan cooking. He definitely knows how to cook the steaks.
