? Oh my gosh! This place was absolutely delightful. They do lunch and afternoon tea. I can't wait to go again and we live 2 hours away but dang, that place was so fun.
Kid-friendliness: They have a children's menu and what a socially enriching activity. Our grandkids had a blast.

I just moved in to college a day ago and it was my 17th birthday today. We had set up a reservation, but due to some confusion on our end, we showed up almost 1.5 hours late- and the store was closing. My friends and I had all picked out our favorite dresses and heels and felt quite disappointed that we wouldn’t be able to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere of the restaurant. As we tried to figure out how or when we could reschedule to, the fact that it was my birthday came up. Immediately Jake, who was working the front desk, jumped into action alongside Jana, who had been near the back of the store. Together, along with the help of Ben and Caleb, these four amazing people kept the store open easily an extra two or more hours for us. More than that, though, they also: brought me out an extra plate of sweets as a gift, asked me if I had any song requests for the speakers, and gave my friends/family and I the best service I believe I’ve ever received! These four people turned what could have been a disaster of an afternoon into easily the most memorable birthday I’ve had to date. If you want excellent service, delicious food, and a fun, unique atmosphere: look no further than the Ploughcroft Tea Room! My friends and I have already agreed that this is going to become our new “spot.”

I left my dining experience today feeling exhausted rather than refreshed. I took my two children out to the tearoom to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. Our server was not attentive at all- I had to keep waiting for her to walk by and flag her down for things. The owner did walk by while we waited for our food and engaged; that was sweet and appreciated. Her family was visiting the table next to us and they were all very loud and I found them quite a disturbance of the atmosphere. They all had phones out and were grabbing from each other and wrestling each other being loud. The teens had feet/legs up on the chairs etc and since our tables were so close together it was hard to ignore. Then our food (finally) came and (thankfully) I was cutting up some food in half to disperse among the three of us and there were two strands of hair baked and intertwined in one of the shortcakes. I am home now but still feel nauseated. I could not enjoy the rest of the food and had to keep checking everything before my kids ate to make sure nothing was in their servings. I quietly showed the waitress once I could flag her down and the owner apologized with a discount of the food. Overall, it was a disappointing time. It was not a relaxing celebration. Hopefully they can train their staff and hold higher hygiene standards in the kitchen along with training waitstaff to be more attentive. I was thankful for the discount but after it all- wish we had chosen another place to go for my daughter’s birthday outing. Oh and I forgot to mention, check your chairs before sitting because the back of my chair had old jam on it and it got on the back of my dress.

The tea was delicious, the scones were tasty, especially when topped with clotted cream and jam, and the Sticky Toffee Pudding brought tears to our eyes with how good it was. It felt like we'd been transported back to England for a wonderful moment. Everyone should come here.
We came here with our small children and had a wonderful time! I love that they have special selections for kids as well. Our server, Ben, was amazing - super kind and patient with the kids. We don't live locally but will definitely be back next time we are in town.

Every year for my birthday I go and get some form of high tea and the Ploughcroft Tea Room is one of my favorite places to go! The food is always tasty and there is a huge selection of food to eat. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting and the servers are all very friendly. I highly recommend if you are ever looking for a place to enjoy high tea!
Vegetarian options: Most of the high tea options are vegetarian - there are two finger sandwiches that come with it (one meat, one egg) that you wont/might not be able to eat depending on your personal strictness, but even so it is a lot of food

Had my daughter's 7th Birthday Party at the Ploughcroft Tea Room and could not have asked for a better experience! Staff was wonderful and so accommodating.
I had the pleasure of coming to the Ploughcroft tea room today for the first time. I had such a wonderful experience! The decor & atmosphere were lovely, the tea selections were incredible, and the food selection I had was absolutely delicious! The owner & the staff were all very attentive & kind. I felt like I was back visiting in England & can’t wait to come back for another visit in the future. I highly recommend this tea room if you want a special experience.
Delightful afternoon tea! Owner is authentic and so pleasant!

The place could use a some dusting/general cleaningService was slow and had to wait long times to ask for anything on the menuExpensive menu for food that’s mediocre at best. Disappointed with the Apple cider, it was very watery

We enjoyed our afternoon tea. The place was very busy and perhaps understaffed. The second pot of tea was weak. While the chocolate dipped Oreo balls weren't British the scones were delicious!

A lovely little place to sit and read downtown. Popped in during a visit up in Lynchburg and had the most wonderful meal
The service was fantastic, the setting was very refined. The afternoon teas were nice and the food good, but they could have offered a little more variety with the sandwiches. They were good but offered only 2 varieties. The scones were delicious though.

Delightful and old timey tea room in the heart of Lynchburg. Took my momma here for her birthday. Really happy with our lunch and tea. The scones were, not to be dramatic, to die for. Clotted cream and fresh preserves. I had the chicken salad my mom had the beef pasty. Both were decadent. We also had the crumpets. Also so wonderful. I was also very pleased with the service we received. Overall fantastic ex.
