Where do I even begin???
I'm new to the area and saw this place on Reddit and was so excited to visit, so I made a reservation for one for Saturday at 2:15. Since I was dining alone, I requested that I not sit in the middle of the room. The woman who took the reservation assured me that she'd seat me along the edge.
When I arrived, I was immediately charmed by the decor! It was so quiet and quaint! The owner obviously put a great deal of time and thought into decorating the space.
They only just recently opened, I think, and they seemed to be short staffed. The one woman I saw upon entering (she was on the phone taking a reservation) was the only person answering calls, greeting patrons, taking orders and serving. That is until it was almost time for me to leave, when I saw a pleasant young man helping her.
Anyway, when the owner, Cheryl, was done taking the reservation, she seated me right away. At a window table!!! I had requested that when I called, but it didn't seem like it would happen. Awesome!
The place settings were absolutely divine! Everything on the menu looked tempting, but I chose the Windsor Tea service with darjeeling tea.
And OMGGGG 😋 Everything was so delicious and so beautifully presented! I gobbled up almost all of the finger sandwiches and sweet treats! 😂
Also, the tea was perfect! It came in a beautiful pot accompanied by a tiny pitcher of cream and a bowl of sugar cubes.
A note to weekend visitors: It was quiet when I arrived, but shortly thereafter the noise level was pretty high (see video). This place is popular! Every table was occupied when I left, and there were people coming in who weren't able to be seated.
When Cheryl took my payment, she suggested that I visit during the week. I mean, I'd love to, but I work every weekday, so...🤷🏽♀️ make reservations, people.
I will absolutely be visiting this establishment again.
Thank you Cheryl, for bringing such a wonderful experience to the town! I'm happy to spread the word about the good work you've done!
My friend, Debbie and I had the Victorian tea this afternoon. Our waitress was lovely and the tea, sandwiches, scones and sweet treats were delicious. Highly recommend!
I love this place! The service is great, the atmosphere is unique, the food is great, and the tea is even better! It’s always a fun experience!
The atmosphere is cozy & friendly. Staff were helpful, efficient, and so pleasant. The food was absolutely delicious!
We visited yesterday and it was a great tea experience! Cheryl was lovely and the atmosphere was cozy. Sandwiches were good, scones were awesome and dessert was really delicious! I highly recommend.
Daughter has tree nut allergy. Owner very helpful double checking and explaining the items so we knew everything was safe. Food and tea were wonderful.
We had a great time! Something unique and fun to do
Went to the Maple Leaf Tea Room for the first time today with a friend after making a reservation during their lunch hour and very much enjoyed my time there! They have a cozy, inviting, and elegant atmosphere serving Canadian and English teas and foods. I tried the Indian chai tea, which wasn’t as spicy as I was expecting it to be but was still good. And I paired that with their gingerbread cake, which was delicious! My friend didn’t care for her savory scone so she let me finish it and I personally thought it was delicious. We were very well attended to by a very polite and friendly waitress, and other than the prices being a bit higher than I would normally prefer, I think it delivered in every other way. So I’m giving it 5 stars!
So glad it reopened! We had a lovely tea and everyone enjoyed their selections.
This was my second tea experience & it was the best so far. All of the scones, desserts & sandwiches were great. The Maple tea quickly became my new favorite tea! The tea sets & decor made the experience all the better on top of the kind women working there. Highly recommend!!

Had the best time here for lunch!! I will be coming back for those amazing scones and tea! Such a cute place!
Poor service, cracked tea pot, had to ask for silverware and napkin, no bone china for afternoon tea. Even though the scones were delicious, and the decor is lovely, I would not recommend. You pay for the authentic experience and this was not worth the pay.
The Maple Leaf Tea Room was the sweetest experience to share with my parents and grandmother while they were here to attend my college graduation. I have been in Lynchburg for three years and had heard of the Ploughcroft Tea Room my very first semester at school. Time went on, and I never got the chance to go. I was heartbroken when I learned of its closing, but I was then overjoyed at the fact that it was going to reopen under new ownership! Finally, my last weekend in Lynchburg, I got to experience Lynchburg's famous tea room! I had made a reservation a few weeks ahead (definitely recommend to ensure your seat!), so we were seated immediately. We got lunch, which was all incredible and the perfect portion, and two pots of tea (the cherry rose green tea and darjeeling). Everything was delicious, the experience/environment was nice and calming, and Cheryl even took the time to come and chat with us. I hope to be back in Lynchburg soon, and maybe then I can experience afternoon tea with Maple Leaf!
Delicious lunch, wonderful ambience and the owner is so personable! I recommend the potato frittata and scones!
