Most of the chicks at the bar were attractive; however, there was a 10$ cover with misrepresentation of a band and dj. Once we paid the cover my 19 year old friend ordered a sprite with no alcohol in it. He paid 4$ for an 8oz sprite which is crazy in itself; however, he was kicked out 5 minutes after paying for a sprite. The security claimed there was alcohol in the drink but there was not. They did not listen, nor try the drink which would’ve proved it wasn’t mixed. He received a 1 year ban for paying for his own drink and cover. I personally will never come back to this poorly managed place, as he was robbed of over 14$. If you are going to kick out people underage DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO COME IN, in the first place. I drove over an hour for this disappoint of an establishment. I would recommend anyone under the age of 21 to not trust the “18+” rule they placed. It’s clearly a money grab which is just a disappointment, especially since the place contains potential. If you are a dude over 21 the place clearly allows 18+ year old girls to drink, which is a disgrace but that how crappy businesses like these work.
It may seem like I am biased, but I’ve worked at clubs and bars like these and their biggest goal is to profit. This being said kicking people out after paying for a beverage is one of the best ways to maximize profit since they got paid over 2x as much as they should’ve. Not only did this place misrepresent what was happening tonight, they kicked out a person who only had a nonalcoholic beverage. The only reason they have more than 1 star is due to the chicks they clearly allow to underage drink. They are clearly over 18 but under 21, this is a pure disgrace to not only the community but the people whom call themselves security. Our group spent over 70$ just to enter and they chose to kick out the only person who paid to get a drink. This being said if you pay the cover and never buy a drink, nor tip, they won’t have a reason to kick you out. I’m not underage and no one in my group is besides the person kicked out. HE DID NOT DRINK ALCHOL NOR DID HE ATTEMPT TO, but he was treated like a criminal.
If you read this far I truly advise you not to waste money at this establishment, but if you are over 21 and not a wierdo you most likely will have a good time flirting with drunk 18 year olds.
Just to clarify I did not get kicked out, and none of my friends did, besides the one 19 year old who paid for his sprite. There was no alcohol in it, and he was wrongly kicked out. Take what I said with a grain of salt, as I’m sure each person has had their own experience with this establishment.

Got kicked out for going to the bathroom with my friends, with x’s on my hand. Claimed they were “giving me drinks”
Lynchburg is so devoid of nightlife that this has found itself as the most suitable place to call itself that.
The best way to experience this place is by walking past it to another bar, you’ll hear the mid DJ from the street anyways.
Lynchburg deserves better than this, I’d rather settle and not go out

Update October 2025:
DJs play an increasingly small selection of music, they used to mix old 1980s-2000s dance songs with more current stuff. Now it's songs from the last 10 years that all sound very similar. What's the point of having two DJs if they play almost the same music? I'm sure the increasingly drunken clientele doesn't mind, but I do.
If you're looking for a place with a club atmosphere to spend time with your friends this your best (and only) option in Lynchburg.
Now if you primarily go to clubs to dance, like me, the Trading Post is mostly a hit, but you have to find the DJ you like and try to guess when he'll be there.
The primary issue with the Trading Post, especially for someone who comes soley to dance (me), is that there's no HVAC of any kind in the building. There are some big industrial fans, but they don't do much. This isn't too bad during cold months, but once it gets a little warm outside that building is sweltering, even for people not dancing. Also it tends to get packed, especially when Liberty's active. By the by, DJ Stu is the best crowd pleasing DJ and is overall your best bet to get songs to dance to. Just please, no more cupid shuffle (lol).
Old Update: They added more fans, still hot as ever, and they now charge a dollar for 8 ounces of water, which is extremely annoying because I'm covered in sweat within half an hour and now I have to pay to keep myself from passing out.

I enjoy going with my friends and mind my business and have fun
Great bar during the week, the country aspect of the bar is great, line dancing is awesome and there’s a ton of pool tables so you rarely have to wait for one.
Negative #1 - no AC and it gets ridiculously hot sometimes
Negative #2 - They have a DJ downstairs playing club type music and after 10-11 PM the clientele gets super ratchet, lines get long, the bar gets really rowdy and a lot less enjoyable. Wish they’d keep it as a country bar everywhere all the time and quit trying to be 2 things at once.

It was almost a really cool addition to downtown. Now, it's an overpriced and obnoxious club that blocks the street, disrupts quiet hours, and never cleans up after itself. Pretty disappointed with this business as a whole.

I have the misfortune of living across from the Speakeasy. When the trading post was still a grocery store, we would go over and play pool in the speakeasy. It was typically a chill environment and enjoyable. Once they changed the trading post to a dance hall/bar, let’s just say the Traber’s & their customers are awful neighbors. The street is absolutely trashed the days following the establishment being open. People are lined up on the street waiting to get in. People used to hang out on the street, intoxicated and yelling after the bar closed. Now there are 2 large lights on the streets. Now cops sit at the end of the street, which has considerable helped the loitering problem. HOWEVER, the cops block the street- blocking the residents who LIVE HERE from parking. I hope this place shuts down sooner rather than later, as I miss my quiet street.
Also, the other weekend they had these signs and i thought it was ridiculous.

Always a huge line. Cops now have to block off 12th street- huge inconvenience considering people live here. I always tell my friends i don’t recommend it, as it’s been nothing but a nuisance to their neighbors since they closed the convenience store & made it all bar/dj/line dancing.
