I really didn't care for the food. It is comfort/country/soul food style, and the selection is fine. I just wasn't down for the taste. My company was fine with their food though and would return. I would return to try again or for other items as this is a scratch kitchen, so any day could be just a little different in flavor.

Talk about a place that has it all! Val ( the owner) is a pure delight! Seating for approx 50-60+ patrons and very clean! Quick to compliment her employees( a biggie!). I was craving really GREAT fried chicken and good home cooking! I have to say it has to be the best fried chicken I have ever had! Juicy, LIGHTLYđ dusted with a perfectly seasoned coating and fried to wonderful crispiness! The mac and cheese(yummer) collard greens were like no other. Josh was our waiter! What a great human being, knowledgeable and a personality fit for any customer service position and beyond, donât try to take him, heâs Valâs! Canât wait to go back! PS: getting ready to eat the lemon cake I took home. All this goes for my husband Mickeyâs attitude toward a great restaurant find! My coworker took me here for Lunch the food was topnotch along with the service. W I loved the fact that the owner came out and walked up to every table to check on her customers. I enjoyed this so much my husband and myself went here the same night for dinner.

I've never met a Val that I didn't like. That's also my sister's name so it was a pleasure meeting Val yesterday. I enjoyed the fried whiting and the peach cobbler was delicious. Val and her staff are friendly and genuine. I will definitely visit again.

On a recent trip, we chose Val's based off of reviews and the menu options. We were greeted by Ashley who directed us to our booth then took our drink orders. We opted for the whiting choosing mashed potatoes, cabbage, and collard greens as our sides. The food was amazing! We both noted we had not had fish cooked that well since our childhood when our grandfather cooked for us. The sides were seasoned perfectly and complemented the fish. It was a delicious meal made better by great service. If you want a meal that makes you think of one home-cooked, you must try Val's!
