Service was great. Parking lot was challenging due to winter snow but 1 week after last precipitation I would have hoped they would clear enough spots for half the tables...not so. Appetizers were 5 stars delicious. Entrees 3-4 stars. Desert was seemingly frozen and defrosted to serve. Not bad but nothing exceptional. I'd say the Bavarian has declined over the years which is disappointing. That said portions are generous and atmosphere is unique. Bench seats are not very comfortable and may be challenging for some elderly folks if seated upstairs.

We visit the Bavarian Chef at least once every year, usually for my wife's birthday. The food is always excellent, and the portions are huge. A great restaurant for two, or for big groups. Make sure you call well in advance for big groups, especially on weekends.

The food here is tasty! They have a good selection and it was all delicious. We had a big group and we ordered different dishes. I probably sampled more than half the menu. What a find!
It is authentic but not stuffy, welcoming but not overbearing. The staff are excellent and the food even better. I never knew chicken could taste so good.

I am an Army Brat and grew up in Europe (Germany). This place reminds me of Germany. The food, service, atmosphere, and beer is the closest you could be to Germany without actually being in Germany. I get excited eating here.

Terrible Zürcher Geschnetzeltes! Could Not eat it!!! Unbelivable mess! The only better thing was the bread, also wrong with Salzes Butter! Only the Outlook is great, Food Unbelivable Bad!!!

The building seems very authentic, but they really overbooked for Thanksgiving Day. Wonderful waiter, good beer. Actually we ordered German food rather than the $49 Turkey feast. The scheitzel portions were huge and very fried with little meat inside. However, the family-style vegetables were excellent from red cabbage, to snow peas, to German potato salad, to corn, to green beans. I would have loved just a vegetable plate, but that was not an option. Dark bread was tasty, but filled you up! Value was decent. Wait time was too long even with the reservation we had made for 6 of us.

Amazing food as always. Had a large party of 12 yesterday for my birthday and Emily was our server and she handled everything perfectly. She was on top of her game. 10/10 even if she did accidentally run my credit card for $10,000 😂 I actually found it funny and an honest mistake. Wasn’t a problem and she went and had it corrected immediately. I personally had the swinehausen (sp) special yeah I’m sure I spelled that wrong that was amazing. Other people in our party had different entrées and appetizers around the table that was equally amazing. No one had a single complaint. Thank you for hosting us as you have several times before we look forward to joining you again it’s always worth the ride for all of us from Richmond.
