Philadelphia Tavern Reviews
Any cheesesteak, amoroso’s rolls, beer battered fish and chips, any rueben style sammich. Mostly between 13-15 bucks. Typically time of placing order to table is less than ~10 minutes for cheesesteaks, hoagies or sandwiches, makes for a quick in and out for lunch.
arrived at noon for lunch, we sat outside on the patio for 30 minutes before being brought a menu. asked the bartender if we could get menus and rudly stated it would be a minute. when the server came outside to give menus he went back in and never came back out. we left and went to Crossroads across the street. I do not recommend this place based on the attitude and slow service of the employees.
What a disappointment. My first visit here and we walked in and stood by the door never to be spoken to. I finally stop the male waiter I guess who was serving food if we sat anywhere and he grunted yes. Never a word spoken. We sat for over 20 mins and no one ever came to our table. We finally just left. I was so looking forward to trying this place. I loved be close but never heard of it until recently. I really wanted to love this place. So Sad!!

The Philadelphia Tavern is a cozy, old-pub-like spot in the historic downtown area, known for its authentic cheesesteaks and other sandwiches. The restaurant offers a friendly atmosphere with efficient service, making it a popular lunch choice for locals. The bar is a beautiful feature, adding to the inviting environment, with friendly staff and lively evenings. The food is good value, with most meals costing between 13-15 dollars. Customers can enjoy cheesesteaks, hoagies, sandwiches, and even beer battered fish and chips. The cheesesteaks are highly praised, often described as some of the best around. Extra white American cheese and extra meat are popular choices to enhance the flavor. Orders are typically prepared quickly, within about 10 minutes, ideal for a quick lunch. The location is convenient, with parking options nearby, including a free two-hour lot close to the restaurant, just across from the train station. The restaurant can get busy, especially during events like street parties or First Friday, but the lively atmosphere and good drinks, including Yuengling beer and bourbon and coke, add to the experience. While service is generally good, there may be occasional slow moments, but the food and atmosphere more than make up for it.
