So great! First time going and loved it!
Having lived in New Orleans for 25 years and being married to one of New Oleans most renowned Sous Chefs, Pinky Harris, I can recommend Howard-Dooley without hesitation. A gem locals' spot. The menu, food and service are killer.
Great food served by an awesome staff! We just saw a party of fourteen (14) served efficiently and with friendly care and our little party of three was not lost in the shuffle! We go often! Highly recommended!
Awesome food and service!
This is a family-run restaurant closer to Mathews than to Gloucester. It’s soooo good. My wife had Brunswick Stew, and it was the best I’ve ever had. Good barbecue, good breakfasts and great Southern desserts. Prime Rib for dinner but we’ve not tried it. Very friendly, happy people.

What a great gem this cafe is! I’m in the state for work and one of my coworkers and I stopped here for lunch while we were in the area visiting a customer.
The place clean, the staff are welcoming, and there is plenty to choose from on the menu. Except the chicken salad…they were out. You probably have to get there early for it.?.? I heard several people asking for it.
I had a club sandwich with fries and a ranch dressing. No complaints on any of my food- the ranch dressing was homemade and very good.
My coworker had a bbq sandwich topped with slaw and hush puppies. She really liked her meal too.
The food came out fresh, hot, and very quickly.
I highly recommend this spot off the beaten path if you are in the area. I hope to work up here again so I can stop by.

Was passing through and stopped in for breakfast. The made from scratch B&G was some of the best I ever had and the bacon was delicious. Well worth the drive.
Great small town food. This family has been making this BBQ for yrs. One of the siblings finally opened a restaurant. All the food is great.

We had a wonderful meal here last night. My wife and mother in law enjoyed the fried chicken specials and I had fried calm strips. The service was excellent as always and the great!
Breakfast was made of the silkiest eggs I have ever consumed at a diner. The coffee mug was the size of a small flower pot. The atmosphere is family and community. Respect for food goes hand-in-hand with their respect for people--especially the elderly. I saw a great deal of care given in seating and serving older folks. That says something.

We stopped here on our way home on a motorcycle trip. We started out with a hush puppy appetizer. They were the best hush puppies I’ve ever had! Everyone’s food was delicious! Nice family run restaurant atmosphere. Everything was very clean and welcoming. The staff were awesome too.
