Over the last decade this place has really grown....food is much better...sometimes very good...as with any establishment it is tough to maintain a high level of consistency...my last meal there was pretty average but considering the dozens of previous good meals one has to be fair...this is solid recommendation...

Wowsers. Small but great. Had the special, shrimp and grits. Whoa ? is was awesome. You would never think the combination could be so delicious. The shrimp was cooked with a little bit of spice and then added it in with some sausage and sauce... holy crow.

Just had lunch with my 3 grandsons today. Awesome food and atmosphere. Best Bacon Cheeseburger ever. Best thing was the friendly, down home service. !!Pretty hard to beat !!

My meal was good, I had the hamburger lunch special. My husband was really disappointed. He ordered the Reuben. When I saw it I knew immediately he would not like it. He is a New Yorker and Reuben's should be lean quality corned beef not fatty and chewy. That said, we would still go back.

We had a party of 6 at the end of the Sunday lunch rush 2/4/24. It was not a good experience. The kid’s grilled cheese and hot dog were fresh. Everything else tasted like it had been sitting around for a long time. Everyone’s fries were hard. I think they took cold fries and tried to reheat them in the deep fryer and over did it. I got the special: Brie mushroom stuffed with pork loin. Only, no mushroom no Brie and the pork loin was tough and stale. The gravy was clearly saving it. It wasn’t as stale as my kid’s cheese burger. The bun on the cheese burger was hard and the edges of the burger were cold. It was done in a panini press. It was probably tasty when it was fresh. Waited over an hour in a tiny waiting area after being told there’d be a 45 min wait. No one apologized, or even seemed in a hurry to seat us when the table was ready. Honestly, If the food was good we would have easily forgave the service. We eat out often. We moved to the peninsula in August 2023 and this the first place that served us unpleasant seafood. The fish and chips was a single tiny piece of tough smelly fish. It’s also the first place I took the time to write a negative review. No, we didn’t complain. I just wanted to get out of there. So, Maybe they would have remade the food or explained where the Brie and mushrooms were (or at least brought us new fries) But, I just couldn’t deal with it. If you’re in the area try the Matthew’s Grill down the street.Kid-friendliness: The kid meals don’t include drinks. But, they offer a good selection.

This place has some great ice cream and tons of "Old-school Diner" vibes to check out while you're there. We just had ice cream on our visit but they had several great-looking specials on a whiteboard. Another trip for lunch will be in my future. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.
