Of course, I am particular about my coffee. I had a mocha flavored coffee latte that was perfectly balanced with the half-and-half!

They had gluten-free options and non-dairy oat 'milk' which was great to see here!

Our server today was the knowledgeable Victoria who knew much about the area and about the menu. Generous and attention to detail was much appreciated! We enjoyed her pleasant friendliness (even though she was the only staff member), and the music ambiance she set in the store.

Loved the cute decor and variety of the store. Will definitely come again!

Did I say the coffee was great?!?

🔥⛺ Primitive Coffee? More like Primal Slay. We wandered in expecting a latte, and instead got a whole spiritual awakening. The woman behind the counter? Absolute goddess energy. She didn’t just hand us coffee, she handed us life. Welcoming, radiant, serving espresso with a side of “you belong here.” The vibe? Rustic chic with just enough caffeine to make you feel like you could hike the Appalachian Trail in heels. 10/10, will be back the next time our souls (and taste buds) need reviving. 💅☕✨

Excellent and adorable coffee shop! I’m a bit of an espresso snob at times, but my fall latte was perfect.👌 Service is also super friendly, and their little marketplace is adorable. (The pet hitching post outside is also a precious.) Loved spending the morning on the patio

Lovely little coffee shop that seems very people and flavor centric! Great staff who will share about the menu and yummy unique coffee/tea/drink flavor combos. Also, plenty of seating for meeting with people, studying, or just vibing!

We came into town from Charlotte, NC to hike and camp and explore the Meadows of Dan area. We made it a point to stop into Primitive and loved everything about it. The avocado toast was some of the best I've ever had, the latte was perfectly made. I loved the little games on the table and the store options to shop. We will be back many more times!

Primitive Coffee Market: A Charming Gem on the Road to Adventure

On my way to a bicycle race in Floyd, VA, I stumbled upon Primitive Coffee Market, nestled in the scenic town of Meadows of Dan. It was the perfect pit stop to refuel, both physically and mentally. What struck me immediately was the charm of the place—it felt like a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.

Atmosphere & Ambience
The atmosphere is welcoming and warm, with a mix of rustic and modern decor that gives off a cozy vibe. The interior design is simple yet elegant, offering a comfortable space to relax, whether you're grabbing a quick coffee or sitting down for a longer stay. The overall feel is one of understated sophistication, making it an inviting stop for travelers or locals alike.

Exceptional Service
The staff at Primitive Coffee Market were nothing short of amazing. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with genuine warmth and a smile. The team is knowledgeable about their offerings and enthusiastic, eager to help you find the perfect drink or snack. They made my visit feel personal, adding to the overall charm of the shop.

Product Quality
The coffee was absolutely top-notch. I opted for their house brew, and it was clear that they take pride in selecting and preparing their beans. Rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced, it was just what I needed for the drive ahead. They also offer a variety of baked goods and snacks, which were equally delicious and thoughtfully sourced.

A Charming Stop
Whether you're passing through on a road trip or live nearby, Primitive Coffee Market is worth the visit. Its combination of a charming environment, amazing staff, and excellent coffee make it stand out. It’s the kind of place that leaves you wanting to return, even if just for a moment of tranquility in the midst of your journey.

I highly recommend making a stop here, especially if you find yourself traveling through the Meadows of Dan area. It’s the perfect spot to recharge before heading to your next adventure—whether that’s a race, as it was for me, or simply a leisurely drive through Virginia’s beautiful countryside.

I stopped in after eating at Jane's Country Diner across the street, I asked the barista to surprise me with something sweet & creamy & she made me a pumpkin spice cold brew 🥰 I absolutely loved it. I'll definitely be back to try the other fall specials before the season ends. Highly recommend 👌🏻

I was not really impressed with the coffee. It tasted like regular drip gas station coffee. My wife’s latte was overly sweet and pretty tasteless. Our breakfast sandwiches were fixed with bacon, even though we didn’t ask for it, and we were charged accordingly. We are sure the eggs are fixed ahead of time and just warmed up, as they were rubbery and an off color. It certainly wasn’t much food for the price. service was not very friendly for what is supposed to be an engaging community. We so wanted this to be a good experience and was hopeful that this would be an often visited weekend destination. We did give it a second chance with a drink order a couple of weekends later. I guess we will have to drive a little further, however.

I like this place for coffee or tea and as a nice place to gather. Food however is hit or miss. Today was a total miss. My breakfast sandwich today was so sad. The prices for food are a premium for this area, and I am OK with that but I do expect better quality. Egg sandwiches were ordered on English muffins. My egg appeared to be frozen and then warmed up. It was gray on top. The cheese was not melted and consisted of 3 paper thin small squares, and a small bit of bacon. So hungry and so disappointed.
