A charming establishment, great to stop off at on a roadtrip. The prices were a bit high..and the salad bar was nice, but you're only limited to one trip with a rather humble-sized plate. I'm surprised they wouldn't let you go twice.
The sandwiches were tasty (but would to try the Grilled Trout Sandwich next time. The Fried was a tad oily). The burger was solid though- and the fries were REALLY good. Friendly service and lots of neat decor to take in.

First, I’m happy to report that my experience aligned with my friend’s raving of High’s Restaurant.
After a few disappointments, food wise (while in this area), I finally had the pleasure to be truly satisfied with my experience of High’s Restaurant.
Let’s start with the customer service here. At minimum, the rating for the service here is SUPERB. Our waitress was super kind, engaging, prompt, and warm.
The food. The portions here are massive with great price points. I started with a cup of the Kickin’ Crab Soup, which was flavored fairly well. However, there wasn’t any crab chunks in the soup, which was a tad disappointing. I then had the Rodeo Burger, which was just what I needed! The pairing of the bbq sauce was such a great decision. Even though this burger was good, what would have made it excellent (to me) was a little bit more seasoning on the beef patty. The fries!… Were simply made to perfection. Even after microwaving (which took away the crisp), I still thoroughly enjoyed the fries.
We then left lol and came back for a milkshake which was excellent! I had a half Oreo and half Butterfingers milkshake , which was everything my tastebuds desired.
Whenever back in the area, it will definitely be my vote to revisit High’s Restaurant.

This place is awesome! Worth the trip. My mother worked here in high school and it is awesome to see it still going strong! A Highland County staple! The food is great and the atmosphere and staff are generous and friendly. If you’re staying in Highland County this winter, I’d recommend stopping in. The chances of meeting friendly people are high.

I have been coming to Highs since 2015 and the food was great but it seems the quality has gone down. I loved getting the smothered chicken but there is no longer any smothering on it. Just a scattering of onions and peppers on top. My granddaughter loved the brownie skillet dessert and now its no brownie but 4 cookies pressed in the bottom of the skillet and when she got it there was a scant amount of cookie in the bottom of the skillet. Very disappointed in that. I ordered a hamburger which had little flavor and overcooked. I hope they will go back to giving quality food again.
My son and I visited this wonderful restaurant today for the first time and will be returning. The staff are very friendly and the food is delicious. Today we had the patty melt burger and High’s fries and the grilled cheese sandwich and Highs fries, my son ate his and a lot of mine haha. Afterwards the waitress was kind to make my son a special ice cream request and he enjoyed that as well. I will return, I want to try the trout and from the looks of two that were made in front of me, I will return to try a banana split as well. Please stop by here if you are in town and enjoy the rest of the quaint little town of Monterey.
