Please note that I don't give 5 stars often. (I've seen to Cracker Barrel and given them them 3 stars, not because they're mediocre, but rather you get what you pay for. I came to Natural Bridge VA, one of my favorite places btw, to attend Luminary Night, and was staying at The Natural Bridge Hotel which I'll review separately. The tavern is on the first floor of the hotel, and I was hungry, having driven from my Gettysburg address ( I love saying that!) I was " that" person who was standing at the entrance at 5:25 when they opened at 5:30 PM. Mt server was Sherri who was reportedly new and very helpful and accommodating . She pointed out some interesting wall photos in the restaurant as well as main entrance, and took my order pronto afterwards. I decided upon my go-to, fish and chips, which was rather good. (I've posted a pic which you unfortunately can't taste.) A throng of people came in shortly afterwards as is typically the case, and Sherri kept checking in on me,even though I'm kinda low maintenance for the most part, or at least that's my humble opinion. I was there exactly 10 days before Christmas and was delighted by Christmas songs and yuletide decor. If you're visiting the Natural Bridge, have a bite at one of the dining facilities within the Natural Bridge Hotel. The prices are moderate, but as I've said, you get what you pay for. This is not a Subway hoagie type of place. I'll clearly returning here at my next visit, and so ought you!

Arrived at 7 pm. It appears menu has changed since last visits. So the choices were minimal. I ended ordering salad with grilled chicken - my husband ordered spaghetti. We waited and waited kept telling us it was coming. Then was told the kitchen was working to finish a large table (a six top) - don’t think in the food world that is a huge table. After a 58 minute wait the food came out. The salad was nothing more than a side salad with some shredded chicken - my husband’s portion was very generous. The price for the less than par salad was $16.00. The spaghetti $15. I am going home and making a sandwich! Thoroughly disappointed tonight - previous experiences have been great!

My husband wanted to take me somewhere different for my birthday and since the choices are limited around the bridge, we decided to go here. I was excited when I walked in. The atmosphere was nice and the waitress behind the bar was pleasant but that is where it ended. I was expecting food cooked by a 5 star chef since the restaurant is located in the historical natural Bridge hotel however received anything but. The prime rib was tough and had grill marks. The "braised" greens tasted like they were just dumped out of a can and warmed up a bit. The corn was the toughest kernels. It tasted like field corn. Please if you are going to charge 5 star prices, for God's sake provide 5 star food and service.

An atypical Sunday with unexpected demand while somewhat short-staffed. Both restaurant staff and hotel staff were exceptionally personable and nice. The food was good but the unexpected crowd led to a few service missteps. The overall ambiance is excellent and the pricing reflects the "resort" image.

The bartenders are friendly and will give great recommendations for mixed drinks if you let them know a flavor you want. They have just about every kind of liquor you could imagine. The PB&J cocktail is awesome.

The staff is super friendly! You can tell they genuinely like what they do. My wife had the Fish & Chips, and I had the Smash burger. Both of our meals were excellent tasting, fresh and hot.We really couldn't have asked for more. I highly recommend!

I was section hiking on the AT, I came to Natural Bridge to be picked up. I ate here and everyone was so accommodating to me and the food was amazing! Try the chocolate torte, it was like a giant piece of fudge! The southern hospitality was real!

So let me start off by giving the positives. The wait staff was really nice, and good at their job. The side of mashed potatoes was excellent. On the other hand, the negatives: Our 2 best friends are vegetarian, and the only offering was a black bean burger. Apparently, the new chef has removed it from the menu without a replacement. The printed menu and website do not reflect this change. When asked what they could offer, the waitress very nicely went to the kitchen to ask what was available. Salad. Was it special in any way? No. You could tell the waitress was embarrassed even reporting this. My wife and I stayed as we were too hungry to start looking for a new place (the vegetarians left). I ordered a $19 burger (came with fries), she ordered ribs (a side) and a side of potatoes. Now, to be fair, the main problem with the burger was the price, *because* if I pay $20 for a burger, I expect a good burger. The burger was nearly burned, comparable to a kids menu burger from Denny's ($8.99), small and unmemorable... didn't even have tomatoes on it. The fries were clearly frozen and once fried... Worse than Denny's. The ribs were sandpapered with the dry rub and served in a chain restaurant-style wire cone. For what's supposed to be a very nice hotel, everything except service was unacceptable.

The food choices were very very limited. There were less than 10 entree items. Example: The only fish item on the menu was Salmon and the fish of the day was also Salmon.
