New menu!
Great taste and humongous portion sizes
The view and the ambiance were delightful, but the food could've been better. The friend chicken was a bit too hard and crunchy, and their waffle maker wasn't working. Still, highly recommendable, their omelets were good.
I brought my wife to this restaurant for Mother's Day. Fortunately, we made reservations as the place was quite busy. I ordered boneless chicken while my wife opted for bone-in chicken, dark meat. We received generous portions along with three sides. The food was excellent but be cautious of the honey, which appears to have cayenne pepper added to it, making it flavorful yet spicy. Overall, we appreciated the quality of the food and the friendly atmosphere. Although it is located somewhat off the main road, it is definitely worth the drive. Lastly, it was a great value.
One hour to even order more than two hours to get food silverware was dirty over all probably one of the worst restaurant experiences in my entire life.
My wife and I have driven by Martha's for years, traveling between Richmond and Gloucester. We finally had an opportunity to stop for dinner this past Sunday evening around 7pm. The parking lot was almost empty which had us a little concerned although many people visit earlier on Sundays for dinner. We entered thru the side door and were still a little concerned as it was empty with formica-topped tables looking very neglected. As we made our way into the front hallway, we were greeted by Meghan who looked very tired but she still greeted us with a smile. She led us to the back room where several other couples were eating and it was a very appealing room - continuous windows around, nice dining tables and cloth napkins. As it turns out, Meghan was the full staff for the day - hostess, waitress, bar tender and busser. Despite being the only staff, besides the cook, she was cheery, very personable and very professional at all tasks. Our cocktails were excellent (not included in our cost/person) but the best was yet to come. We had the fried chicken and meatloaf (they were out of the trout) which was superb, the collards were terrific and the smashed potatoes/gravy were perfect. I'm not a huge fan of mac
'n' cheese but it was the best I've ever had - prepared to order. Fortunately, we were able to tell the chef, in person, how much we enjoyed everything as I believe we were the last patrons of the night. Obviously, we can't attest to everything else on the menu but we will, definitely, be stopping there again to try the other menu items. We recommend that everyone make sure to include Martha's in your plans for dining out and we recommend to the owner that you really try to hire additional help - tough these days. Meghan & Brandon are invaluable but will burn out if they are overworked - just our observation. Thanks to those two, we will be back!
Horrid experience! I got a gift card in April for my friends birthday and she went there for dinner on her special day. They would not honor the gift card because their system was down and made no effort to do it manually. I called a few days later asking for a refund...after 6 phone calls and an email to the General manager I got no response! ZERO. I don't like leaving a bad review but at this point that's all that is left. So disappointed with them. If the GM should read this, which is doubtful, you have my contact info. Do the right thing!
I've been there several times and have been overall pleased with my food. I ordered Salisbury steak and it was not Salisbury steak at all! I was given a smashed, unseasoned, over cooked plain hamburger patty topped with peppers and the requested gravy. I certainly would never order that again and it'll be awhile if ever to return.
Absolutely love this place! Stumbled upon it a couple months and have been back multiple times since. The restaurant is in an old house and is bright, sunny, and homey. The menu is southern comfort food and some of the best. The meatloaf ( which often sells out), fried chicken and the pot roast are all incredible. Our server, Megan, was great. Compliments to the chef!!! Can’t wait to be back!
horrendous service.... rude waitress... save your time and money and eat elsewhere

Went quite some time ago and had a bad experience. Two of us went back tonight for dinner. Not too crowded. Seated in the back room with just a few others. Waited for a good 5 min maybe and another table of 4 was seated beside us. Waited some more. The waitress came in and went to the table of 4. Took the drink and food order and walked away. We were never acknowledged! We had more than enough time to pick our food before the others were even seated and they had no idea what they wanted. Acknowledgement would have gone a long way, even if you took others ahead of us!! Walked out after about a 15-20 min wait. We will most likely never try again.
We love the food here at Martha's Kitchen and come here every time we're in town! Our waitress, Amber, was an absolute delight! Definitely recommend this spot ❤️

Fried green tomatoes, American harvest salad, catfish with fried okra. Server Megan was excellent. Fried green tomatoes were well done, great batter, very crunchy. The salad was huge! More than I could eat! Bread basket was fresh, catfish and okra was tasty, and I think the to-go desserts will be the finishing touch! And the chef came out to check on the meals while we were eating, very friendly and personable guy.

Loved the grits! A little disappointed to have only a breakfast menu at 12pm on a Sunday, but what we got was still delicious. Amber (if I remember her name right!) was a very courteous and kind server. And the restaurant itself was decked out super cute for the holiday!
