Martha's Kitchen of New Kent

This is a difficult review to leave because while we had an amazing experience when we first discovered Martha’s Kitchen, we suppose they’re successful enough to not open on a Saturday without updating their status on Google. We drove a long distance to show off this amazing restaurant to others only to find that they chose not to open that day and not update their current status in Google. Again, great place for sure (it’s a must actually!!), but if you’re coming from a long distance, might be best to call them first to see if they’re actually open and not trust their status in Google.

Was excited to see it back open. Three of us made a reservation. Got seated. Had to ask for waters. Ordered drinks that never came. Walked out after almost 20 minutes. I hope they make it but they must figure out how to get some help that knows what they are doing. Also it was 6:00 pm on a Saturday and they said they were out of every bottle of domestic. Don’t go yet

Just not good we got a big order of things and most of it was not good it might taste better if you sit inside but we ordered to go for Mother’s Day dinner and it was just not good everyone enjoyed the collard greens tho

The setting was warm and welcoming, and our server was an absolute rock star. I ordered the fried chicken and my partner got the fried cod—both were cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The whole experience was so good that we’re already planning to come back next week.

Initially met in the parking lot for FB Marketplace and could smell the food outside. Was immediately drawn in and everything was delicious. I never get smoked foods but ordered the pulled pork sandwich and it was easy to eat, neat, sweet and smoky. We also tried the cheesey chicken which was breaded chicken, Mac n cheese, and bacon and that was amazing. 10/10 would make the trip back here!

It has been three years since I have eaten here. So, I decided it was time to go back. I took my good friend for lunch today to celebrate her birthday April 24, 2026. Daniel was our server and he had the best customer service and great personality! We ordered the smoked deviled eggs for our appetizer and we both decided for our meal to get the fried chicken with mac and cheese and collard greens. Absolutely delicious! I loved the fact the chicken had NO bones and not greasy. For dessert we had the chocolate chunky brownie for dessert with ice cream…..sinfully delicious. I highly recommend checking them out! You will not be disappointed!

Food and service was outstanding. Thank you, Daniel, for taking such good care of 5 woman for drinks, appetizers and a delicious meal. We will be returning in the near future.

I came with my daughter this evening before our daddy/daughter dance. It was such a cozy warm atmosphere. Our server was phenomenal. I can’t say enough great things about him, I wish I remembered his name. My daughter thought he was the greatest (they bonded over their mutual love of mayonnaise 🤣).

The food was right on with service. Phenomenal. I had the brisket Mac n cheese which I loved and my daughter had the fried chicken sandwich (add mayo of course). She swears it was the best chicken sandwich she’s ever had (better than chick fil a… coming from a 10 year old that is high high praise).

We will definitely be back. Thanks for a special meal with my daughter!

5⭐️ across the board! Great food, friendly staff, spectacular atmosphere. The remade version of this place is hitting on all cylinders. If you haven’t visited recently, you are missing out! Get on over there now!

I had such a great experience at Martha’s! The food was seasoned perfectly—every bite was full of flavor. The cornbread with honey butter was absolutely amazing… I could’ve eaten that all day 😍
Our server, TT, really made the experience even better. She was super friendly, fast, informative, and knew the menu so well. You can tell she genuinely cares about giving great service.
And I have to mention the margarita—it was sooo refreshing and just really, really good!
I’d definitely recommend Martha’s to everyone. Can’t wait to go back!

Don't be fooled by the somewhat weathered/dated looking exterior of this charming Colonial style home turned restaurant - the food, drinks, and service well all exceptional. We found everything we tried to be cooked & seasoned perfectly.
