The food was good however a bit overrated. Ordered the salad which was good nothing extra special. Had the smoked chicken, was again good the gnocchi were a bit mushy could use more texture, they were more of a mashed potato. The chicken was hard to cut in the serving bowl it came in. Need to serve it in a more shallow plate. Deserts were slim pickings so didn't order any. Service was good but boy can he talk fast almost like he was on speed or cocaine. For such a specialized restaurant and considered higher end, need to have the bathrooms cleaner. So much dust and dirt on the baseboards and floors were not very clean which makes me wonder how clean the kitchen is. I may consider going back but not anytime soon.

Another fabulous meal at MCK. Went for a date night and it did not disappoint! Started w a pork belly and honey roasted brussel sprout appetizer w a parsnip purée which was amazing. And I really don't like brussels - except these! Both of our main dishes (paired w the chef recommended wine) were outstanding (parm crusted pork w crispy potatoes over romesco sauce and a homemade ramp cavatelli pasta dish - sauce was fabulous). We topped it off with the basil cake w lemon Marscapone ice cream and strawberries. Nothing like we have ever had. Our server Ben was superb and he made the recommendations for our mains and dessert. So happy we let him select because he did not disappoint! We will be back - soon!!!

We went there to celebrate my partner's birthday. We really loved the bread with honey butter. The only complaint is there was only four slices and for additional bread we needed to pay $3. As an appetizer we shared the smoked beef tenderloin tartare. It was good. ordered seared rockfish and it was awesome. I enjoyed the crispiness of the snow peas. My partner ordered filet mignon and he was very pleased with his dish. For desert I ordered the strawberry basil cake. It was spicier than I expected but I truly enjoyed it with the balance of ice cream. My partner ordered the chocolate ganache. We were pleased with our dinner and planning to visit again. My only complaint is regarding too many items with pork. I don't eat pork, and it limits choices for me and others who avoid pork.

12 meals. 12 enjoyable meals. Filet Mignon was cooked great and cut like butter. Atlantic salmon was not overcooked and had a very good topping. Nice bourbon selection. Server Sam was great. Handled the table very well.

Very unassuming from the outside; we've driven past many times, thinking "we should try it one day".We shouldn't have waited so long. Food is delicious, and the chef is outstanding. Really well done on all accounts. 100% coming back.

Dining at Midlothian Chef’s Kitchen is a culinary journey well worth taking. From the moment we entered, the service was impeccable, setting the stage for a memorable evening. The ambiance of the restaurant, with its cozy yet elegant decor, made us feel welcomed and comfortable. Our dining experience kicked off with an array of appetizers, among which the beet salad was a standout. It was a vibrant dish both in color and flavor, showcasing the freshness of the ingredients. The other appetizers did not disappoint either, each presenting a unique taste and a hint of the chef’s creativity. The main courses were a testament to the kitchen's prowess. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, with each bite melting in the mouth. The pasta dish we ordered was a delightful surprise, balancing flavors and textures with skill. As for the rockfish, it was nothing short of spectacular, offering a delicate taste of the sea that was both refined and satisfying.Midlothian Chef’s Kitchen truly excels in bringing together great service, a warm atmosphere, and exquisite dishes. Each course was thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and delivered with a level of service that made us feel truly special. It’s a place where the passion for food and hospitality merges, creating an unforgettable dining experience. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this restaurant is a gem that promises not to disappoint.

My mom and I visited this restaurant yesterday evening as part of a promotional event for Chesterfield Restaurant Week and suffice to say, we will definitely be returning! Firstly, the atmosphere here is a perfect combination of home-y rustic meets elegant chic. I, for one, was quite delighted to have a slate rock to lay my silverware on instead of just a napkin or the tablecloth itself. The staff is friendly and accommodating - we arrived without reservations and they were quick to find us a table. Our waitress was so lovely. She even gave us extra bread for the honey butter spread because oh my god, that stuff is crack-level addictive! On to the drinks! Our food was pre-selected as part of the event, but we did order our drinks separately. My cocktail was an interesting spin on a citrus vodka sparkler and the mason jar presentation was a fun touch. Needless to say, I finished it before the first course even came out, it was THAT good. Just the right amount of Absolut Citron so that it wasn’t too overpowering. My mom’s was a little stronger for those who prefer a heartier cocktail, but it’s worth noting they also have a wide selection of beer and wines as well. Our first course was a curry and cauliflower soup with pickled mussels, sprouts and fresh tomatoes. The soup itself was a little dense, more like a bisque, but extremely flavorful and had just the right amount of curry spice. I have to say, I’ve never had pickled mussels before, but their meatiness and brine-y taste added a just bit of extra umami that tied it all together. Definitely a unique dish! The main entree was a smoked chicken breast with ricotta gnocchi, roasted asparagus and chicken jus. I’m very persnickety on my gnocchi simply because it’s one of my most favorite foods, and while the texture definitely retained more of a cheese-y pull than I would’ve expected, it paired SOO well with the chicken. Which was, in my humble opinion, probably the softest and most fork-tender chicken I’ve ever had in my entire life. Simply delicious! Now, for dessert, we received a slice of strawberry basil cake with a scoop of lemon mascarpone ice cream on the side. I’m not a big cake lover in general because a lot of the flavor really comes from a frosting or glaze, which is the exact part I don’t like and tend to scrape off. This cake, however, held its own without any pairings at all. The basil gave it such an earthy flavor and it was very moist as well. I finished the whole thing! A practical first in the cake world, for me.Overall, Midlothian Chef’s Kitchen is such a great little gem and I’m glad to have discovered it because it’s definitely worth trying. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking to expand their culinary palette without breaking the bank. 5/5!!

A hidden gem in a little strip mall, this definitely feels like a place to go to celebrate. My mother and I were delighted by every dish (and demolished the bread and honey butter of course) and enjoyed both the alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage options. The service was excellent and very pleasant as well. This particular venture we shared the salmon egg roll (perfectly cooked with a lovely crunch on the outside and balanced well with the smooth acid of the avocado and citrus), the pork belly (the lone issue the whole evening - delicious and beautifully cooked but difficult to cut even with my steak knife), the papardelle with a smooth meaty Bolognese, and the absolutely splendid duck. The raspberry and coconut desserts were lovely as well, but I think the raspberry made it for best of the two.Absolutely worth a return trip.

The best resturant in Midlothian period! The food is delicious and the service is excellent. You don't really expect it because it's located in a smal strip mall.

Great food. Service was slow, but in a good way. If you are looking for a quick meal, this isn't the place. For a strip mall location, the ambience was great and our service was great, but they were packed, so understandably a bit slower service on a busy Saturday night. I would highly recommend Midlo Chef's Kitchen for a nice night out.
