OMG!!! We stopped at Kendall’s on our way to Norfolk and absolutely loved the food!!!!! So much we had to stop on the way back home!! Can’t wait to go back again!!!! Thank you for that banging a** food!!!!

My husband and I recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant for the first time. The food was amazing, and the service was wonderful. I ordered a cheesesteak sub with French fries and collard greens. My only complaint is that the collard greens were bland and lacking in flavor; adding some smoked fatback or smoked turkey would have enhanced them nicely. Other than that, my meal was delicious. My husband had a bacon cheeseburger with fries and cabbage. He mentioned that the cabbage was also bland and could benefit from some bacon for added flavor. Overall, the food was very good, and we would definitely return.

This food is so good and the owner is so nice and professional. She always has a smile and makes time to talk to her customers.

Food was delicious. Real soul food. The waitress was working all tables by herself and she did it flawlessly. Would definitely recommend to anyone. We had the fried pork chops, cabbage, mashed potatoes and gravy, hamburger steak, fried okra with cornbread. We also had the chicken livers. Everything was delicious.

I've eaten at this restaurant before and love the food now the service was a little slow because she had a server on vacation and one called out on her, so she was taking orders and cooking but everything was still great! I'd give this place 3 ?????? because not only were my fried chicken livers sooooooo go and mashed potatoes and greens and cornbread was awesome. I was so impressed how she ran it with just herself and I believe 1 other person was in the kitchen with her but because she was short staffed and she didn't have everything on the menu available do to short staff we got free desserts which were awesome!! My bf had the hamburger steak meal he said it was good and Mac and cheese and spinach which by the way is the first soul food restaurant I've seen serve spinach and for you non pork eaters they don't season their greens with pork. But all in all I'll give her a 9 out 10 hopefully she can get some more dependable staff so she won't be spread so thin. And also make sure you try the coconut cake and the bread pudding it was sooooo good!

On another day, this place may get a higher review. Food was good, service was good however the cook forgot about one of our orders so the last order came out when the others were done eating. They kindly compensated for this meal. Overall, the wait service was good, but the wait for the food was very long. Not sure what's going on with the smell in the restaurant...it smelled similar to a porta potty while seated at the front of the restaurant away from the restroom?

Her attitude toward the employee is ridiculous and nasty. You should never treat anyone any kind of a way that u don’t want anyone to treat u.

We have been here before although it was more than 5 years ago. It was very good back then. We ordered a few of the specials chicken and dumplings and pulled pork. The chicken in the dumplings was white meat chicken chunks and it was very dry and hard to chew, kind of like when you have a tough piece of steak . The pulled pork was okay but also a bit tough. My husband and I spent 46.00 dollars with a 15 percent tip included. Needless to say we will not be back lesson learned here. Also it was pretty crowded and we had to wait a long time for our food it would have still been okay if it was worth the long wait.

What a great surprise! My family really enjoyed the food here. We ordered Catfish, butterfly shrimp, crab cakes, trout and scallops. We loved them all! Especially the crab cakes! We definitely will be coming back to order other things on the menu! (Gizzards!)
**EDIT - we came back and tried the Gizzards! Did not disappoint! The CORNBREAD is also a big hit! Definitely will come back for more Cornbread next time.

Amazing ? great home cooked food! Kendall is the sweetest soul I've ever met! Amber the waitress was amazing! She was the only one there waiting tables it was busy! The check out guy needs a little prep for smoothness for the whole business! He could have helped amber seeing she was so busy! He also needs to recommend and upselll to customers that ask too many questions! Sell it bro even if ya ain't tried it say ya have if it's a great seller. Know this business it's Kendalls baby! I sold cornbread and greens for you and mac n cheese just based on the fact I've had it as well as it all was an upsell for her business! My food was absolutely ? Bomb as usual!!! Kendall never disappoints me!!! As well as asked where my mom was and how she was doing! Amazing ?!!!!

Really good food. Was like home cooking. Main courses were excellent and the sides were all home made NOT Sysco stuff out of a box or can. I got Hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and gravy and it was cooked perfectly and the gravy was very good and tasted home made. Wife got liver and onions with cabbage and mac & cheese and she said it was near perfect and the sides were home made and very good. Was my first time here but will be back for sure. I was really impressed with the quality of the food.

This is real food, made by real people! Everything was tasty. I was able to taste the roast beef. It was full of flavor, fork-tender and a nice, healthy serving. The macaroni and cheese, green beans, and cabbage was a nice addition! All tasted better than home (and that is saying a lot from parents who cook from scratch with soul and flavor). Highly recommend.
