Great experience. Nice place with lots of history. Service was excellent. Go there for the ambiance. Forget about the pricing. Go there expecting to pay a lot. We had a gift certificate which made our brunch better, but $200 for two people and no alcohol is a bit high. We had 2 apps, 2 entrees and split one desert. Coffee only to drink. It is a 5 star experience.

We had an incredible experience at The Ashby Inn in Paris, VA. The restaurant itself is absolutely charming—quaint, warm, and full of character. It felt like stepping into a little hideaway where every detail is thoughtfully cared for. Stephen, the sommelier, was fantastic. He selected the perfect wines for each course, and every pairing elevated the meal even more. Kyle, our waiter, was equally amazing—attentive, personable, and made the entire evening feel relaxed and special. The food was excellent from start to finish. The pastry chef deserves special recognition—the bread alone was unforgettable. And the standout of the night was definitely the foie gras, which was cooked perfectly and full of rich, beautiful flavor. Overall, an outstanding dining experience. We would go back in a heartbeat!

First time here. We arrived one hour early and had to work on certain materials. They set us up in a quiet room and allowed us to order cocktails as well. At the appointed time, they set us up in their dining room room at a window overlooking the grounds. We ordered the Prix-fixe three course menu, which was reasonably priced, considering the superb quality of the food. The quantities were just right, not feeling over stuffed at the end of the meal. Would highly recommend this restaurant and we will likely stay overnight at this end in the future.

The food was good, the service excellent and the wine list superb. Steven, the sommelier has assembled an extensive and compelling wine list that offers great wines for any budget. Also, the long list of wines by the glass allows for great pairing (or simply experimentation.) We will certainly be back!

Our return this time was a disappointment. I ordered beef Wagyu sandwich and the beef patty was a bit cold. I guess it was on top of cold tomatoes. Beef was well done. I wasn't asked how I wanted my beef so I forgot to ask it. I didn't think I had to in this type of restaurant. The ambience was very nice, quiet and enjoyed the few falls leafs on the ground.

Wonderful meal in a lovely setting. We spent the morning on Skyline drive and had a late lunch at the Ashby Inn. My husband had the onion soup and coq au vin, I enjoyed the grilled Caesar salad and filet mignon. The food and service were wonderful. We'll definitely return!

We had an overall good experience but found that both of our main dishes were overcooked. The French onion soup was amazing and dessert was good. A few hiccups with service (things like serving our soup but forgetting to bring spoons until we asked, forgetting to bring the requested sugar for our tea, and coffee being lukewarm when served). Everyone was very kind and the ambiance is lovely. It seemed like maybe we caught them on an off night given that many of the other reviews were really good.

Excellent food! Second time here and it did not disappoint. Sommelier was great suggesting wines that were delicious and I would never have tried otherwise. Highly recommended

The Ashby Inn is a true hidden treasure. Every dish feels thoughtful and fresh, with flavors that surprise and delight. From the perfectly cooked meats to the vibrant, seasonal sides, everything tastes like it came straight from the farm to your plate. The setting is cozy and charming, and the staff makes you feel right at home. A perfect spot for anyone who appreciates creative, high-quality dining in a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

This is an 1800 restaurant that is very nice to eat at it's a very upscale restaurant with a set menu based either on pre-selected menu or a Chefs menu or regular menu depending on what you would like to have. Reservations are required and casual but yet slacks and a button-up shirt is required as well as most people dress nice to go here. It's not a cheap menu so be prepared to do this on a special occasion or with some really good friends that you have

Had brunch at the restaurant, the food was superb. Fresh complimentary biscuits were hot and perfect, the salmon tartar was fresh and had fantastic flavor. The wagyu burger was delicious and my filet mignon with egg was a wonder take on steak and eggs. Service was very friendly, all the food was above our expectations. Will be back!

The main dish, the appetizers, the bread, the dessert, all delicious. The sides? Very bland. They were outliers considering everything else was so tasty. The portion sizes were a little small too. Service was amazing. We'd generally recommend, but they definitely need to up their side game.

Both the octopus and lambs chops on the Tasting Menu were deliciously excellent. Steven did a great job with pairing the wines also. This is my wife's favorite place to dine in Virginia. Top place.

Lovely historic building with absolute best service and friendliness. Gourmet breakfast was included with the stay making this an overall great value. Our stay was a delightful departure from the usual chain hotels. Looking forward to visiting again.
