The Ashby Inn is our favorite getaway, and dining at the restaurant is always such a treat to the senses. The food is beyond compare, and the sommelier knows the perfect wine for each dish. The entire team at the Ashby make you feel welcome and valued, which is why we keep going back.
If you like a small town feel and first class treatment, go to this bed and breakfast. The room was warm, cozy and clean. The food is served gourmet style. It sits in an area that is very quaint and beautiful. We plan on returning again next year!
Fantastic meal and impeccable service. I'll definitely be back and this was my first lunch, dinner has always been amazing
We have been going to the Ashby Inn for years and while the service is great and we love the restaurant, we were really disappointed with the Christmas Eve dinner this year. In particular, the entree choices were so limited with only one beef, fish and vegetarian option. For the costs of the dinner I found this pretty frustrating. Not sure we would go again next year with such a small selection.
This is an outstanding restaurant. The food is perfection! The staff is so efficient and caring.
The Ashby Inn is one of the best restaurants in the DC/MD/VA area - not only for its food, but for the lovely ambience of historic restaurant and inn. I have always found service to be exceptionally friendly and helpful. In short, my family/friends and I highly recommend it.
We had a wonderful dinner at the Ashby Inn. All the food was delicious. The staff was also very kind and attentive, especially our server, Virginia. We will be back!
Private dining room for our party of eight. Beautifully decorated for Christmas, jazz music playing, great service by our waiter and sommelier, and delicious food from the very first bite until the last.
This place is amazing. The food and service is second to none and they truly aim to please. If you're going to charge what they do make it worth it......they truly do.
First time eating at this restaurant after over a decade of wanting to try it out and we were not disappointed. We had a delicious dinner of the filet w/ foie gras and the apple tar recommended and served by Alex who was very kind and solicitious and a wonderful bottle of amarone recommended by the sommelier Stephen who was so helpful in giving us travel tips for his home country, Morocco. The restaurant had a comfy, homey feel of a country inn or historic tavern depending on in which room you dine.

We've dined at The Ashby several times and the food and service is routinely excellent. However, on our most recent visit, where we had the tasting menu with the standard wine pouring, there were a few things that could have been better, which we pointed out to our server. First the good: the grilled octopus was phenomenal (although we try not to eat octopus for ethical reasons), the pasta in black truffle sauce was excellent, and the potato-crusted halibut was delicious with the perfect size portion. The caramelized apple tart at the end was one of the best courses in the evening, and was paired perfectly with a Sauternes. In fact, all the wine pairings worked perfectly, and the sommelier was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to teach us about each wine. For the less-than-good: the foie-gras, which was sumptuous, was too large of a portion. It was also in a rich sauce that made the dish almost too rich to eat. (Perhaps most folks wouldn't consider this to be an issue). The biggest flaw was the lamb rack; while seasoned nicely and with a good sear, the interior was much closer to raw than rare, rendering the meat tough and unpleasant to eat. Service, as always was exemplary. The courses were paced comfortably and we never felt rushed. The wait staff were attentive and friendly, which is always a plus.
The food was cooked to perfection! The service was so friendly and accommodating. I'd love to come back again soon.
We had a wonderful experience with our Thanksgiving dinner at the Ashby Inn. Beautiful spot, great food, and very friendly & helpful people. Our waiter Luke was the best! Highly recommend.
Great experience. Nice place with lots of history. Service was excellent. Go there for the ambiance. Forget about the pricing. Go there expecting to pay a lot. We had a gift certificate which made our brunch better, but $200 for two people and no alcohol is a bit high. We had 2 apps, 2 entrees and split one desert. Coffee only to drink. It is a 5 star experience.
We had an incredible experience at The Ashby Inn in Paris, VA. The restaurant itself is absolutely charming—quaint, warm, and full of character. It felt like stepping into a little hideaway where every detail is thoughtfully cared for. Stephen, the sommelier, was fantastic. He selected the perfect wines for each course, and every pairing elevated the meal even more. Kyle, our waiter, was equally amazing—attentive, personable, and made the entire evening feel relaxed and special. The food was excellent from start to finish. The pastry chef deserves special recognition—the bread alone was unforgettable. And the standout of the night was definitely the foie gras, which was cooked perfectly and full of rich, beautiful flavor. Overall, an outstanding dining experience. We would go back in a heartbeat!
