With only two other tables occupied no waiters came to take our order. We had waited 12 to 15 minutes. Left and went to Sago's. Better food great service.

Came by today for a car cruise in Rocky Mount. Food smelled great! Very clean restroom and plenty of parking. Nice little place to eat :)
Country cooking is very good. Good breakfast. Small place. Carry 3 octane ratings of non ethanol gas. Easy access for truck and trailered boat.....if it's not busy.

First of all their gasoline is all Ethanol free. That is old school. Now speaking of old school Carls has been serving since the 1940's. So they have been in business for the better part of 100 years. Now if my math and history is correct that is before the lake was impounded. You dont stay in business if you arent doing something right, everyday, for that many years! Now the food is good and for about 8.50 you get a burger with everything and fries. And it was excellent! Service was ok, I think our waitress left after taking our order, we never saw her again. May have been a shift change, hence the 4 stars for service. All in all it was great food, plenty of parking, and a great local restaurant! They open early, and they are open for 12 hours plus everyday. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner! They do get very busy, so call ahead if you are in a hurry! And they have a small grocery section and items, if you need to throw down say a zagnut, or Candy bar. Or get a pack of hot dogs, which by the way are really good! AND THEY ARE OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK. WHO EVEN DOES THAT ANYMORE? Carl's, Give it a try, you wont be disapointed! Finally if you are in the area, the Smith Mountain Lake Dam visitor center is close by. Call first or check online for hours of operation. You are about an hour, from Roanoke, Lynchburg, Bedford, and Martinsville, Rockymount Va are just a hop, skip and a jump! Look up online WDBJ review and story! Any questions?
