What a gem! Looking for a good meal while traveling and this one fits the bill! Had soup beans, and cornbread with meatloaf! Yum yum yum!
We were heading back home to NC from our time in Cincinnati and needed food. The usual route wasn't an option so we were on smaller more local routes and the food options were slim beyond base level fast food which neither of us can tolerate anymore. We saw a sign for Vonda's Hometown restaurant and googled it. The reviews were great so we thought we'd try it. We were just about to give up finding it on the tiny, windy road when it appears like an oasis sitting in snow.
We go in and the gentleman working radiates kindness and a welcoming feeling to us. He explains the menu and tells us about how they came to be, wanting to be a place of communal gathering, where people feel relaxed enough to talk and enjoy time together.
Our meals were indeed tasty, the people were so friendly and the decor was like walking into a hug. I can't say enough good things about Vonda's Hometown restaurant or the man inside running it = both were absolute gold stars and I'm thankful to have found them on that snowy Friday afternoon.
