This was hands down the absolute best soul food I've purchased in years. Some v these soul food places have no business being in business BUT Mama Brown's need to never close and open a spot in NJ in my area!! The meats were seasoned to perfection. The pork chop DEAR GOD!!! Chicken was delicious. Next time we'll have to sit down and order a lot a bit v everything. The only thing I would like is for that scrumptious mac & cheese be cooked longer to create that delicious crisp semi-burnt but not burnt cheese. Peach cobbler wasn't available, so my feelings were a lil hurt ?. I can't wait to get back, I didn't take a single photo bc we ate it so fast. Trust me, it's worth every dollar. I always said, if I spend money on food and it's not better than mine or family/friends, they shouldn't be in business. Kevin Brown is family now. Virginia is lucky to have him. When y'all see that food truck, get in that long line, worth it. Head to the restaurant and eat that delicious food, everything is cooked fresh to order! Have patience!

The first time my wife and I ate here, we both got the catfish, shrimp and salmon cakes with the chicken livers. The food was delicious and large serving sizes. We came back a week later to get dinner to celebrate our daughter's big promotion and the food was awesome!

Was at first not sure about the place, but wife and I ordered the catfish, and let's say it's been a while since I had fried catfish that good. Was able to take to the owner a little and found out he was from my neck of the woods. Don't let the location deter you. Very nice staff and food. I'm glad the campground we were staying at had a menu for them, or I might have missed this hidden ?
I didn't know you could get good fried chicken in Powhatan. I was wrong! Definitely our go to spot from now on.

I have been seeing things about this place on Facebook. I finally decided to see for myself today. Boy did they not disappoint! I had catfish, hush puppy, and Mac n cheese. All and I mean all of it was amazing! The place is very clean the staff is friendly and the food is as advertised. If you haven’t been here. You’re missing out!
