The past two Thanksgivings my wife’s family has bought a bunch of empanadas to have for lunch. When I tell you I have thought about these empanadas and the chimichurri consistently for the past year, I am not exaggerating. The flavors are so good on everything. Now yall just need to open up a spot in North Carolina so I can indulge myself a little more ;)

I’m Latino by marriage to an Argentine girl. I have been to BA and other parts of Argentina multiple times. I have enjoyed hundreds of empanadas from all kinds of restaurants, hole in the wall mercados and food trucks. Making (wife and mother-in-law) and enjoying empanadas are a regular part of my life! This place was a great find. Very delicious and authentic empanadas. I had never had a brisket one, it was great. Very tasty Chimichurri sauce to dip them in. The alfajores are a must try for dessert! ¡Muy rico!

My wife and I tried Gringo Gordo for the first time today. The empanadas were delicious! Reminded us of the ones we got on Uruguay years ago! The cajeta was amazing! We'll definitely be back. We tried 5 different flavors between my wife and I, ask were very good but the Smoked Chicken was the stand out... super flavorful. Oh and try their chimichurri... it's one of the best I've had!
Gringo Gordo sells great empanadas. They have a large variety of empanadas and even have non meat/vegetarian options as well. The workers are very friendly and patient. They are very helpful if you have any questions or concerns. The building is nice. It’s a small, but comfortable place with indoor seating choices as well as outdoor seating. Your food is given in boxes which can be used to dine in or be to go. I like this because there’s no confusion and it eliminates having to ask for a to go box or anything inconvenient like that. The overall vibe is very nice and a top pick for my family when we eat out.

The empanadas were delicious. We had buffalo chicken, smoked chicken, spicy beef, Argentina beef, pepperoni and brisket.. all were delicious. Definitely get the sauce too. This is worth the 30 minute drive.
I've eaten a lot of empanadas. These are up there. I love that it's just all empanadas, and alfajores for dessert

We make regular stops at Gringo Gordo. It is a 5-star ? place. The impanadas are exquisite and generous. It's not surprising that more of them are opening everywhere! Great job!
