I spent over $200.00 on a carry out order. I asked for a large container instead of the small containers to put BBQ sauce in. I was told I could buy a bottle of BBQ sauce for $9.00. And they got my order wrong. I won't be eating Monk's BBQ again.

We've been looking for some good BBQ in the Prince William/Fauquier/Loudoun area for a few years now. When Red Hot and Blue closed in Manassas and Warrenton, we looked around for a new great BBQ place. I just read a Northern Virginia Magazine review of Monk's BBQ in Purcellville. Then our hairdresser in Aldie today confirmed our decision to have lunch there today.
It was awesome! We had pulled pork, sliced brisket, potato salad, and their beans with some pulled pork in them. They have a huge selection of whiskies and tequila, cocktails, and a good selection of craft beers. The banana pudding with Nilla Wafers was great, too. RH&B was NEVER this good. We will be back! Five Stars all the way!

This place is highly rated so we were excited to try it out. When we arrived, we noticed the full parking lot so obviously this is a well liked restaurant.
After we placed our order, we noticed the wide selection of 5 different bbq sauces. Unfortunately for me, they must have run out of burnt ends before we got there, so instead I got the pulled pork sandwich. By itself, I didn't find that the pork itself stood out. But with the Carolina sauce, it was mighty tasty. That sauce was a good blend of Carolina spices without being too watery as is sometimes the case. Their spicy sauce angry Texan was also excellent. The baked beans were some of the best I've had. My wife had the brisket with corn bread and mac and cheese. The brisket was typical brisket and good. The mac and cheese didn't stand out though the cheese sauce was fine. The cornbread was a good item but not the consistency of cornbread. It was actually very good but more of hand held corn pudding or an ooey gooey corn cake. Really, you need to try it but don't be expecting classic cornbread.
I would come back here easily, hopefully to try the burnt ends.

Best BBQ around. Been going here since it was just a food truck. Moved away a few years ago, but drove the three hours this year for one of their holiday smoked hams (order a few weeks ahead required), and it is still worth the drive. Amazing

It’s good not great. We caught them on a very very busy day so I am sure that that impacted the food. The service and atmosphere were excellent. I would go again for sure.

Monk's BBQ does not have table service even when asked if there would be a server and informed that there would be one - you are asked if you would like to leave a tip up front which we did expecting table service like most restaurants. No waiter or waitress comes to your table to take your order and keep your drinks full or provide silverware or a request for barbecue sauce or even drinks which requires you to go to the bar or soda stand yourself if you wish to have a drink with your meal. .When we walked in the door, we were informed that there would be a server and upon choosing and paying for what we wanted when we proceeded to the table we asked about silverware and were told we had to get it ourselves as well as the bbq sauce and you will have to proceed to the bar to get a drink on your own.. We will probably not return. The food was good but the portions were small. One would expect BBQ places to have excellent service where we can sit and relax, while we order our food and beverages. Unusual system to say the least.
We chose Monks to cater our wedding due to how good their food is. Their service from start to finish was very unprofessional and left us feeling very disappointed. We had issues with the catering team from the moment we signed our contract, Wendy Eversole and Sue were super inconsistent and/or were inconsiderate when responding to us. We were constantly told No or that we had to wait to ask questions or even to pay them. Our invoices were never correct, the food was incorrect until two weeks before the wedding, our guest count was off by 40 guests and who much we wanted of everything was wrong. We paid for the bar package and were asked to supply the margarita mix, easy no problem, well it was a problem they didn’t use it. One of our special cocktails was a hurricane margarita and they didn’t use the mix, when we brought it to their attention at the wedding they said they followed the build, obviously not. We came home with three unopened bottles of margarita mix that we took. The bartenders also opened multiple bottles of red wine for no reason, all of them went bad since we didn’t get a chance to drink them. Over $200 lost in wine. Their staff yelled at members of the bride and grooms family, never once apologizing for their behavior. They made a two year old cry. They knew that family would be at the venue before the ceremony for pictures, they still yelled at the families and tried to say we interfered with them setting up the buffet, which wasn’t set up until after happy hour. So that doesn’t even make sense. There is so much more to this and we have tried talking to Monks to come up with a solution to those issues and they have blown us off. So here we are, posting reviews we never wanted to post, just trying to get the owner, Brian Jenkins, to talk with us. We tried talking to the General Manager of Monks, Charles, but he refused to speak with us. He told us he would speak with us after speaking with Wendy Eversole the head of catering. The women who told us no so many times, the women who caused the drama behind the walkthrough and wedding issues. Charles as never called us back. We have called time and time again trying to talk to him and the restaurant has refused to talk to us and asked us to stop calling. But what else should be do? No one wants to talk with us, they have read our emails, even responded back so acknowledge that there were issues caused by their staff. Don’t use this business for catering, you are setting yourself up for unnecessary drama.

Great food! Awesome music and super friendly staff. The hot links the turkey, the ribs, the jalapeno poppers all excellent. Stop in. They have a full bar and you won't get any better. Smoked meats, baked beans, coleslaw and just a great atmosphere to show up. Hang out. Hang out all day. Get your Billy full, get you a cold drink and listen to some hometown jams. We really enjoyed our stop and we will be back as soon as possible

I ordered the lean brisket with smashed potatoes and the cornbread with a sweet tea. The brisket was juicy, but needed the sauce for flavor. Cornbread had a custard layer, with a subtle flavor. Potatoes with soaked in butter, which I love. I would like to come back to try the chicken.

Tried 3-5 times over the past several years. The last time the hosts/server/order taker whatever her position had a bad attitude when I tried to place a $100 plus order to go, walked out and haven't been back!! This is after she waited on customers that came in after me.

We always make it a destination for lunch after our motorcycle ride through some VA backroads. I especially enjoy their Ribs, corn bread and sides.
