We visited Sunset Hills somewhat by accident on Thursday 4 April. We were finishng up at a nearby vineyard and checked the Plugshare app to see if any nearby vieyards had EV charging stations. Up pops Sunset Hills eight miles away. We didn't realize until arriving that this vineyard had won a number of gold medals in the 2024 VA Governor's cup.We started off with a taste of the award winning 2020 Reserve Cabernet Franc which could only be described as hard nosed like a young Saint-Estèphe Bordeaux. Our server looked a little panicked and said "you obviously know more about this that I do, let me get my colleague." For the initial round I opted for the Meritage which was considerable softer than the Aabernet Franc. It too was a little young, but opened up nicely after a few minutes.By the time the first round was finished the weather had turned particularly bad. The car was charging and we had nowhere to be for several hours, so why not revist that gold cup winning Cabernet Franc? It turns out that the wine was highly approachable after breathing for a few minutes. In retrospect I wish I had purchased some to take home.

Really beautiful winery with a lively tasting room. Having music playing was a bonus. The person who helped us with our tasting was so knowledgable and friendly. We left with 6 bottles of wine, liking both the reds and whites we tried. Can't wait to return in the summer and enjoy the outdoor seating!

This is a great vineyard to visit in Virginia. The sommelier at this vineyard has traveled the world to produce these wines.

By far the best bread and Brie combo I have ever had! And Doug, our attendee or whatever he is, was the best person to provide us service! He was knowledgeable, kind, and a great personality. Very funny and sold us on a few drinks. The location is great! Far enough to enjoy the view but close enough that Ubers weren't crazy expensive. They had live music outside of the patio. Plenty of indoor and outdoor space. I believe they even had a second barn space for extra indoor seating.

We just opened the Sunset Red... after a long week....I wish we'd bought 2+! Full, robust but not overpowering. Fruity hints with a mature bouquet. Absolutely reminds me of a deep Spanish red! Well done!

Beautiful vineyard just a 10 min drive outside of the town of Purceville. I had great service at the tasting bar, and since I am a wine enthusiast they let me try more than just the pours on the tasting menu. In particular I appreciated the opportunity to compare 3 different Chardonnays: oaked, stainless, and concrete fermented. Ultimately the Cabernet Franc was my favorite and I took a bottle home, but the concrete Chardonnay came in a close second. As the name implies there are beautiful sunsets here, so I will be back again soon to enjoy a glass or two in one of their provided Adirondack chairs on the lawn. They also feature several tables and private spaces in the tasting room, so it is a great stop for a winery tour group (with reservations).

What an amazing experience and wonderful winery!!!! From the warm welcome and extensive knowledge of the wines from Kelly to the beautiful landscape and view of the mountains and vineyards and the gorgeous barn and the friendliness from Elizabeth and all the staff, everything was absolutely amazing!!! We did the wine taste tour and every wine was exceptional! You can tell this place takes pride and puts love and care into their wines and establishment and customers. After tasting the wines and the great experience with the staff, I immediately joined the wine club and look forward to many more amazing experiences here and with these amazing wines! Please check this place out, you will NOT be disappointed!!! Exceptional experience!!!!

Huge restored barn, the perfect setting to enjoy wine tasting , and beautiful winery countryside .The white flight wines to sample were so good, we purchased two bottles to go, one of which will be saved for a special occasion ( yes, it was that good )Ken enjoyed the cheese sampler, each piece of cheese to be enjoyed with each wine sample. The pairing was excellent !We definitely will visit this winery again, it is worthy of any wine critic and will pass the test ( at least it did with me )

I love the seating options here. We chose the covered porch looking out to the pond and vines. There were fans to keep us cool on the hot day. There is seating indoors and another covered outdoor area with live music!
