A wonderful place. The owners are very friendly. The atmosphere is amazing. You can see the mountains. Very serene and very warm and inviting a must see in Shenandoah county.

Love 3rd Hill. It's our second visit. Incredibly quiet. Great views And I don't think you'll find nicer people anywhere. The own ers are wonderful.

Came here for a fund raiser. Beautiful winery with delicious wine. Nice place to hang out and enjoy a glass of wine.

So glad we stopped here! This place is beautiful and has a very laid back vibe, which was great for after hiking. The wine was delicious and the scenery was incredible. They also had live music. The owners were so sweet and treated us like family. Would definitely go back.

Thanks, owner Edward, for a fun experience at the winery. We were able to get a description of each wine, learn about the grapes, and view the stunning vineyard from 2 angles. The decor in the main building was unique as the local barn treasures added to its beauty. We liked the white wines best and bought one bottle for my 17th anniversary. Thanks, Edward.

I love wineries like this - casual, more "ramshackle" (and that is not a criticism) vs. the slick corporate places you find in Northern VA as well as many wineries around Charlottesville. I only tried the Riesling and it was unlike any Riesling I ever had - notes of peaches and apricot (and totally dry). Unfortunately they do not offer counter tastings where you can interact with the staff--only flights, which is a residual winery issue from the pandemic. Also it's likely the only staff the winery has are the family members. I would have liked to hear more about the winery but the lady working (possibly the owner) seemed very preoccupied. But all in all this winery is a throwback to the earlier days of Virginia wineries - the days of Wintergreen, Farfelu, Unicorn (all three sadly closed) and the remaining VA wine pioneers like Sharp Rock, Willowcroft, and Burnley.

Showed up on a Tuesday when Google said they were open, but they were closed. (They are always closed on Tuesdays!) The owner came out to meet us. He was very personable, and gave us a free bottle of wine for our inconvenience. Fantastic ambiance and would love to go back when they are open! Highly recommend.

My friends and I came by this afternoon after visiting Luray Caverns. We had an amazing time! It was a nice fall day and the outside patio area was a great place to sit. The views of the vineyard really made it an enjoyable afternoon while sipping on wine and chatting. Once we got chilly, we moved inside to the upstairs loft seating and enjoyed the live music. We met the owners who were absolutely pleasant with a warm demeanor and knowledgeable take on the wines. You could tell they worked hard to run the vineyard and valued the welcoming atmosphere. The wines were so much fun to try! We all got flights and then split a bottle once we chose one of our favorites. I would definitely recommend stopping by!

Friendly owners. Good wine. Beautiful place.

Beautiful atmosphere! The wine not so much. Like other reviews mentioned, the wine tastes quite acidic and vinegary. Tried 2 different reds and both hurt going down.

Oh. My. Gosh. What a memorable visit. Never would I have dreamed of being served (much less charged $$) such awful products at a Shenandoah Valley establishment. Every wine on the 8-flight had flaws, but this was shocking. Several had acetone notes, while most were straight up the worst vinegar taint/volatile acidity I’ve ever had. Several had distinct off-note aftertastes that I can’t even pin down. All garnered contorted faces from some in the group, even coughing and eyes watering. Based on the color and all-around VA, I’d guess they were accidentally stored in a hot area and badly oxidized at some point. If this were a once-off it would be one thing, but I see another review from several weeks ago with the same experience. Moreover, when arriving we were immediately told that “Our wines are all VERY DRY.” This should have been a red flag. They weren’t “dry”; they were soured. The employees likely knew this, given the repeated “dry” warning and also a complete lack of feedback when I went to pay. There was no “How did you enjoy it?” or anything of that sort.As I left, my stomach began to burn. Relabeling the winery as an “artisanal vinegary” could be a temporary fix to appeal to the ACV-loving young folks from the city. Otherwise, dump the ruined wine and please don’t pretend it is just “dry” and charge visitors for it. (2 stars because the venue is gorgeous and staff were otherwise friendly!)

Loved my experience here! It was so homey and Wendy and Ed are lovely hosts. You can purchase wine, cheese & crackers, or chips here and it’s enough to keep you there for a while with the beautiful views! They have the cutest dogs too :)
