Food is always good, however, today lunch was served in the bar area. Loud and crowded and not a relaxing atmosphere at all. Is this a permanent change? If so it seems like a really bad idea.

I have been to Ippy’s multiple times. The phone never gets answered. When I arrive to place my order in person, because I’m unable to over the phone after repeated phone calls over numerous occasions, there is no one inside waiting to greet me. Majority of the time, I’m left standing in the foyer for 10 minutes waiting, while waitresses frantically rush pass me without acknowledging me. (To be fair, today, I was only waiting for a minute. However, that isn’t how it usually goes). I understand they’re short staffed as they have been for a very long time, so I understand they have a million things going on. When the takeout order is finished, every time I pay, the owner jips me on the change. I’ve bit my tongue the last 10 or so times even though I truly hate the way this businesses is ran. When I told the waitress of these issues, I was told I’m being shorted on the change because she is paying me in change herself from her own pocket. I told her that’s another problem and that I’d love to talk to the owner about that as well as employees should never have to pay out of their own pocket to complete a transaction for a customer. I told her to keep her money because I wasn’t going to take her money. She said as far as the phones not being answered is concerned, they’re short staffed and that I can order online. The staff are always wonderful but they are overwhelmed and these issues have been ongoing for a long time. 1) The phones should be answered promptly. 2) When the customer arrives, the customer should be acknowledged promptly. 3) The change should be exact but never shorted. I have no interest in walking around with a jingling reminder of how ineffectively and inefficiently this restaurant runs. The owner should never allow these 3 aforementioned points to occur. It is a shame because I am not the only one who has had the same experience. The “short staff” answer is not the customer’s problem and should not continuously affect the customer experience. Ippy’s may believe that they can’t afford to hire one more person to remain at the desk, ensuring great service from the time the phone rings or the customer enters. In reality, they can’t afford not to fix the problem. How many similar experiences are preventing repeat or expanded business? I have no interest in eating here because Ippy’s has no interest in providing the very basic service expected. Instead, the customer is made to feel subpar service is to be expected.

The whole place is spotless, which makes the meal even more enjoyable. Our waitress was fantastic: super friendly, quick, and checked on us just the right amount time. I recommend.😊

Ippy's Restaurant is a great choice for good food in a comfortable setting. The staff is very pleasant and the menu extensive enough to please most. Entrees come with choice of a side. The prime rib was very good as was the baked potato, though it would have been nice to have a salad included. The fried grouper was also very good along with their tarter sauce. Though we like to explore, I feel I can always be satisfied at Ippy's. They can accommodate large groups and have plenty of parking.
The inside, nice but could use more color and windows. Made it stuffy with all the tan/ brown.
The service was amazing! Loved all the attention to detail. W had a party of 27, and although I liked the limited menue for this occasion, the menu was more of the pricey options. Didn't like that part.
The seafood was REAL seafood. Not that baked, frozen stuff you can get from the supermarket in a box. And IT WAS AMAZING. Loved the food. And that is saying a lot from a seafood lover like me. Most places in this area don't really do good seafood. But this place was great. ❤️

The service experience was terrific and the food was delicious. The price is $$$. With a family of four two adults and two teenagers costing over 140.00 seemed the food was al la cart.
There are more reasonably priced places in town.

2nd try here in a year, very disappointed both times! Husband's birthday dinner tonight. Server was very scarce, looked like they to were short staffed in general. I had filet that cut into like a very tough roast. Birthday boy had seafood platter, shrimp and fried clams were tasty but fish had no flavor (he subbed for no oysters). Not returning......

My Wife and I were in Virginia for our anniversary. I found Ippy's on Google. It was an outstanding experience! Our waitress Chloe was amazing! So was the entire staff. The food was wonderful. A very classy place without the attitude. We can't wait to go back!

We visited Ippy's on a late night dinner run. I try to stick to a rule to not visit a restaurant in the last hour of service but I wasn't aware of their closing time, and the hostess said it would be no problem to seat and serve us. With the young lady being so accommodating we took her offer. We had been to Ippy's once before on a family reunion dinner but this time we sat in the parlor area, which was a nice bar area with pool tables and sufficient space for other bar/restaurant activities. We just kept the ordering to cheeseburgers, which came recommended from my lady's brother. The recommendation was spot on. Ippy's makes a pretty good burger that is more like a steakhouse burger in size and char-grilled taste. My mashed potatoes and gravy paired well. About the time we were finishing up a fellow hanging out at the bar was heading out and offered to buy us one for the road. Unfortunately, I had to drive so I couldn't catch him on this one, but maybe if we meet again in the future we will definitely take him up on the offer and buy him one as well. All in all, we really enjoyed our food, service, and the kind atmosphere of the people. I always enjoy my time in Rocky Mount and we will make Ippy's a staple restaurant in future visits.
