I can't say enough about how wonderful our experience was here! The gentleman with the beard was so thorough and mindful of our food restrictions. The quality of the coffee was outstanding, emphasized with the customer service. Would 10/10 recommend this coffee shop! The politeness and attention to detail are unparalleled. This is absolutely my new favorite coffee shop!

Passing through and needed some coffee! Locally owned, super sweet people who are extremely passionate about their delicious coffee! Their iced mocha was blended with a hot chocolate roast that was amazing!! The iced caramel latte was so good. And the espresso 🤌 So happy to have stopped here!

I had my first coffee from Bittersweet Java today after my daughter-in-law recommended it. The coffee was delicious! I like the fact that it is family owned and the atmosphere was friendly and cozy.

As a busy nurse and business owner, I appreciate a quick, reliable coffee shop for a caffeine boost and a short break during the work day. Convenient location and great personable service!

A Saturday morning allowed us to finally check out Bittersweet Java. When we arrived there was an event, Cars and Coffee, taking place out front. Great community engagement! The atmosphere inside was very inviting with multiple seating areas and a children's play and reading area. It took some time to go over the menu but we placed our order. Sadly, they did not have cold brew available. This possibility was clearly displayed on the menu board. For our beverages we tried a mocha and cappuccino with caramel. We sampled the biscuit with bacon, egg, and cheese and a croissant with sausage, egg, and cheese. After asking what a croffle was and learning that it was a croissant cooked in a waffle iron and topped with strawberries and cream we added that to our order. There was a short wait for drinks and a slightly longer wait for food which was brought out as each item was prepared. Our croffle was served on a plate with metal silverware. Nice touch! But our sandwiches were served in Styrofoam to go boxes. Due to the fact that we were eating in, serving everything on a plate would have made it slightly nicer and created less waste. All our items were delicious and the temperature was correct. Drinks were hot, the mocha was not surprisingly sweet and the caramel cappuccino was perfect! The croffle was an interesting treat and exactly as advertised. The sandwiches were both hot and cheesy. Although the biscuit was cut on the smaller side. The service was wonderful, from the woman who waited on us to the gentleman who brought us our meals. Great place for families to take a little break or to meet a friend for a light snack. We will definitely return!

What a great find! Delicious coffee and a perfectly sweet 'croffle' made a beautiful sunny morning even more delightful. I've never seen a kid's play area in a coffee shop - but it made us stop by and it was totally worth it! Our toddler got to play with the toys while we watched him and enjoyed our peaceful morning. Very hospitable hosts, large coffee shop with ample parking. I highly recommend Bittersweet Java!

I recently hosted a group of 13 ladies for a Bible study at Bittersweet Java in Ruckersville, VA, and our experience was exceptional. The owners were incredibly accommodating, providing swift service and delicious coffee that delighted everyone. The cozy, family-oriented atmosphere, complete with a children’s area, made it the perfect setting for our gathering. We are grateful for such a relaxing environment to come together and look forward to returning in April! Thank you, Bittersweet Java!

A little hard to find in the back of a strip mall but FANTASTIC coffee and even better service - a hidden gem. Went back to back days on our getaway out of DC. People running it couldn’t be sweeter and make a helluva flat white! Will definitely return our next time in town.

Been to bittersweet a couple of times. I think at this point they need to carry some sweet treats to have with coffee since it is a coffee shop.. Homemade Cookies, scones, and or cinnamon rolls would be a good start. Love the fact that there is a children’s play area!!!! MAYBE A SIGNATURE TREAT!!!! ( Just an idea). We did not purchase any food items while there because we had already had breakfast and there was nothing offered to have with our coffee.😔

Great coffee. Good options for dairy free. A very nice place to talk and drink. Several different types of drink and I believe they have some pastries too.
